New Mom's - Favorite Food Gifts

So - I have 4 friends who are all having babies in the next two weeks! It's crazy!

I like to bring a new Mom and family something to eat after baby comes... sometimes I've brought fresh bread, spreadable cheese and fruit (for an easy breakfast/snack or small supper), sometimes I've brought lasagna or other bake-able dinner (fully cooked, ready to warm up). And sometimes I do muffins and juice for b-fast.

Since I have 4 people to think about here (and 3 little kids of my own) I'm trying to conserve/prep a bit and figure out something I can make in one big production and make deliveries after babies come. All but one of these new mom's have other young children... so I want whatever I make to be kid friendly.

What are your favorites for an after-baby food delivery? Did someone make you something that really seemed nice?

Thanks for your help!
J.

I made it for myself before hand, so I'm not sure it counts, but Mini Meatloaves!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made up a couple of different batches ahead of time (regular meatloaf baked in muffin tins, and some Italian style ones made with ground pork that i shaped free hand and baked on a sheet) and kept them in ziploc bags in the freezer.

Very easy to take out and reheat, add a slad or some green beans, some baked potatoes or pasta and sauce and you have a quick meal that will satisfy even new nursing mom hunger....

I would bring chili (not spicy for the little ones) and cornbread muffins. They can be made in large quantities and both freeze very well.

I love your idea! How sweet of you!

How about for breakfast do a scone, jam, decaf coffee.

Lunch: pre-cut veggies (red pepper, mini carrots, celery) w/Ranch
baguette of bread, deli turkey meat.

Dinner: Mexican casserole. Two kinds. One is:
Take a round glass pie dish & layer, flour tortilla, Mexican cheese, olives
tomatoes, green chilis, cooked ground beef w/taco seasoning. Top
w/cheese & bake till cheese melted.

The other one involves cooked grd beef, corn, diced corn tortillas, diced
tomatoes, cheese. Mix in glass sm square brownie pan, top w/quartered
corn tortillas, shredded cheese & bake.

Or cooked ground beef, add can of mushroom soup, cooked fettucini
noodles. Add a green salad in a bag.

Soup is always great and you can make a huge batch to split for cheap especially if you make your own stock (super easy!) Big batch of rolls or mini loaves and some bagged salads and you have four dinners ready to go.
If you don't usually do soup from scratch, here's an easy "cheater" soup my kids love: Box of beef broth, V8, scrambled hamburger, bag of frozen mixed veggies. Stock and V8 are salty so you don't need to add salt! Throw in pepper and some herbs and that's it. I never measure - I do it to taste. But generally it's about a pound of meat to a bag of veggies. I add the V8 until it seems like enough fluid and it tastes right.

Crock pot meals!! That way we could eat when ever the little one and the rest of the kids would "allow" :)

Honestly - ANYTHING I didn't have to make was awesome - you're so nice! If any of them are nursing...you might want to be somewhat cautious of tons of cabbage/broccoli or other foods that might cause gas in a nursing baby. I like the muffins and juice idea. I brought one mom a bag of shredded pork (crock pot w/ salsa and brown sugar), tortillas, a bag of grated cheese, a small thing of sour cream, and a tomato and avocado (avocado if I'm feeling generous :p) - the reason being that 1) I could make the meat easily in bulk and 2) they could eat it any night so long as the tomato/avocado lasted. I've brought new mom's taco soup a few times - but not so much because I think it's a new mom favorite, as it's just super easy to make in bulk. The other thing I really liked is spaghetti - but that's partially because it gives me heartburn towards the end of pregnancy and it's one of my favorites :p.
