We are moving to Bend mid August, and I just discovered we are expecting again.
I am looking for a great Cranial Sacral Therapist, and a great Massage Therapist that specializes in pregnancy massage. I will also be looking for a great OB/GYN and Pediatrician!!! I prefer practitioners that are open to natural & holistic methods.
Thanks much.

What can I do next?

Welcome to Bend! Sounds like you have gotten some great referrals, but here are a few more to ponder.

My midwife is amazing as far as I am concerned. As she said in my first apt with her, since she is part of a traditional OB clinic, is that we have all the medical technology available if we need it but if we don't need it we won't use it. She was so respectful, knowledgeble, and supportive throughout my pregnancy and birth. She is Jennifer Wright at Bend OB/GYN.

A friend has someone who does cranial sacral work. There also is a newer pediatrician who studied with Dr. Weil (the guy with the white beard written several books). I unfortunately can't get their contact info because my daughter is asleep on my shoulder at the moment. If you are interested in either email me back and I can get them for you.

I got the buddha belly massage at Jinsei Spa two weeks before my delivery and the gal was great! She also has had a child so she seemed to know just where and how to hit all the right spots.

Hope that helps and good luck with your move! It must be slightly more stressful with a young child and pregnant too. T.

Hi!
Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to Central Oregon! How exciting! This is a great place to live with kids. We love it.
I don't know if you've thought about it but since you're into holistic medicine you would probably love to have a midwife! It's so hard to have the birth that you want in a hospital with an OB. The midwife that I had is Tiffany Sutphin and she is AMAZING!!! She is so sweet and knowlegeable and I trust her 100%. Her website is beautifulblessingsmidwifery.com Give her a call, she'd love to talk to you!
A great pediatrician is Dr. Emma Baker. Her website is dremmabaker.com She is a naturopath physician and she is great with kids. She's very sweet and knows her stuff!
I hope this was helpful! Feel free to ask me more questions about my midwife or pediatrician or if you are interested in having a doula! Thanks!

Love,
J.

Hi Ane Marie-
Welcome to Bend;-) I have an amazing pediatrician named Dr Cuddihy at Bend Memorial Clinic- Not the best at Nat path but he's the best otherwise around- Very very through. I also know of a great massage therapist but he is in Sisters which is a 25 min drive- He is worth the drive. He is at Greenridge Chiropractic he did a prenatal massage on me when I was preg and now is fixing my back;-) after holding my son in my arms for 7 months.
I would also recommend the Juniper fitness center for swimming, it saved me while I was preg and it's a 50 meter outdoor lap pool- also the have mat. swim classes once a day.
Hope you enjoy your move- best part not as many BUGS;-0 I lived in Madison Wis.
Lynelle
Anymore questions just ask.

BEWARE TIFFANY SUTPHIN

I hired this midwife under the pretense that she was a professional and that her "assistant" was knowledgeable and capable.
My experience was very different. Tiffany is a poor communicator; she was misleading and claimed she was open to providing the recommended prenatal tests. She claimed her apprentice was her assistant. In actuality, her apprentice was nervous taking a measurement. What would happen if Tiffany were unavailable at a birth? I do not have any confidence her assistant could step in.
Tiffany stated she has chronic fatigue and other health issues. I ask who the client here is. She states a healthy diet is important, recommends eating salt from your hand instead of consuming the needed electrolytes, and talks about her diet of fast food.
Tiffany stated she has emotional issues stemming from childhood, which I could see because she perceives straightforward questioning as aggressive attacks. She acted more as if she was relaxing than doing a prenatal appointment. At first, she agreed to send me a copy of my prenatal record and then refused. I had to threaten to contact a lawyer for her to follow through. Her chart was very unprofessional and her notes were written more like her personal diary then an actual medical record.
At the prenatals', I felt I had to get the ball rolling or she would sit there and say and do nothing for almost an hour. She did not have a routine to her appointments. She refused to answer questions that were asked in previous appointments and was often inconsistent in her answers when she did. If you chose to be her client you better not change your mind on something or ask her a direct question or she will quit in the middle of your pregnancy, footing her bill and that of hiring a new midwife. If you have a choice, I would look for a more professional and caring midwife who is serious about her job and caring for her clients.

Hello,
Welcome to Bend. I used Tammy Seymore at Exhale salon in Bend. She gives a fantastic prenatal massage. The OB/GYN's at East Cascade Womens Group are great. Mine is Mary Jane Davis and I love her. Central Oregon Pediatrics, John Chunn is our pediatrician he was my husbands pediatrician years ago, he has been in bend for many years and is very respected. Hope you love it here, I am sure you will. Also check out Central Oregon Family News, they are a great resource for all things involving kids and families.
