N.K.
You could keep going w/the presidential theme and name her Barkley, since Alben Barkley was Truman's VP. Or Roosevelt (and call her Rosie) since Truman was Roosevelt's VP. Good luck!
For my birthday, we adopted a new puppy from the Humane Society. I am so happy we saved a life and can give her a good home. She is an 8 month old mutt...sweet girl. Now we have to come up with a name...she has never had a name...how sad. I am having a hard enough time trying to name my soon to be baby and now the pressure of naming a new puppy. We already have a Truman (puggle) and he was named after President Truman because my husband and I were married in Key West.
Any good suggestions for a puppy name? We don't like the cutesy names....we like more unique or human names....if you know what I mean.
Thanks!!
So after all the throwing out names and discussing options, my almost 2 yo decided to name the new puppy Lulu...and it is so cute to hear her call her "my wuwu". I was calling her part kangaroo because she looks a little like a kangaroo and somehow roo became Lulu...thank you all for your help and recommendations!!
You could keep going w/the presidential theme and name her Barkley, since Alben Barkley was Truman's VP. Or Roosevelt (and call her Rosie) since Truman was Roosevelt's VP. Good luck!
Hey A.,
How about Bess after all, President Truman's wife was named Bess? Just at thought..
Good luck,
B. B
Ella or Bella. Nothing to do with a President or the Key West- just pretty names for a pretty girl.
I have three furry babies. Fancy, my son brought home. She is part Dachshund/part hound dog. That was her name when she came to live with us and she is a little fancy thing.
Well, a blond stranger came to visit while she was out to potty and we now have Maxwell and Knubbs. Maxwell was named because of the color of his coat;he has the color of a good, rich cup of coffee. Knubbs doesn't have a tail and my son named him. I was calling him, His Knibbs. He thinks he has to be the center of attention.
Look at her coloring. What is her personality? Is she loving or a little snooty? LOL! Take a bit of time before you name her. It's not going to hurt her to call her Baby Girl until a real name sticks. In no time her personality is going to remind you of someone you once knew or admired.I once had a dog I named Charlie. I didn't even realize it for a day or two, but I had named him after my husband. His name is Charles and he goes by Chuck.LOL!! Well, he was such a handsome devil(both)!!Hope this helps a little.
BOGART BO for short
Sorry I misread and thought you were naming a male dog : )
Congratulations A.. My husband and I also just adopted two kittens from the Humane Society for our three kids with our newest being a 9-month old little girl, Myng. We went to this site for the names http://petrix.com/catnames/ (Well, at least one of the names.) It is a site for kitten or cat names, but at the bottom of the screen is a link for 2,000 dog names. We picked Meeko for one of the kittens and Marley for the other because Meeko was the quiet and shy kitten. My husband wanted a name similar to her personality. Marley was the wilder and more jumpy and adventurous kitten. Check it out, I hope it helps you.

I named mine Mercy and Gracie and they help remind me of God's mercy and grace everyday!
How 'bout 'Capote'???
Truman Capote...hee, hee, hee
We named our furry baby Laila. She really should have been named Brattapus!!! I went through baby name books and found something that wasn't too human but more original as well. I like Lola, Bella and Sammy as well. Good Luck!
I guess you are able to handle a lot of commotion, cause that is a full household!
Pick a name that is dif from your first dog, so she will know she is being called. Cato comes to mind,Cher?, just off the top of my head. Go on line to google and pull up some name sources and go from there.
Wht is new baby's name going to be?
I named my HS puppy Izzy...because I watched a show where the girl named Izzy cried ALL the time! Izzy cried for a few nights and then was fine. Shes now almost 3. Blue Heeler Beagle mix.
Good luck,,,I just got a full blooded B Heeler,,,,named him Jake. Cause its a cute name! lol
D.
How about after another president? Just not Bush... yuck!
What about the name Maggie?
Hi A.!
I see that many people have suggested "Bess" after Pres. Truman's wife (he also had a daughter named Margaret, who was an author). Anyway, since he was from Missouri I thought maybe a city name from that state. Mark Twain was from Hanibal, Missouri so what about "Hannabelle" or something like that?
Good Luck!
Stay with the Key West theme. How about Hemmingway?
How about Lucille or Ruby?
What was President Truman's wife's name? Bess?
What a fun question!
Keep with the theme! How about Roosevelt? (and call her Rosie for short?)
Seems like you're on the right track with Truman! For our dogs (rescued), one looked like a Maggie Marie (Aussie/Border Collie) and the other looked like a Samuel (Sheltie/Corgi). He had short legs but seemed so strong. His full name is Samuel T. Webster. He's a hoot, too! Our other dog came from a friend who passed away from cancer. Cristy (Poodle) was her only child. So we put a middle name in honor of the owner and now she's Cristy Dee.
During my pregnancy with my daughter, I could tell she was going to be strong and independent, just by her movements. I'd chosen Elizabeth as her name - thinking of a queen (Queen Elizabeth's strong stance). Sure enough, my Elizabeth is just that way: strong and independent!
Let us know what you choose as your names! We'd love to hear the end result to your inquiry!
What about Harriett wasn't that Truman's wife?
I love Greek mythology. Just a suggestion:
Hera was the goddess of Marriage and Family and protector of married women.
The Roman name of Hera is "Juno
What I have done to name pets is to watch them and how they are.A name will come to you that will fit the puppy..congrats..

How about opal. they say a dog name should be 2 syllables and Opal is a very nice old fashioned name. An opal is a mix (mutt) of beautiful sparkley colors and a very delicate stone.....delicate like a lost little sweet puppy girl. My vote is Opal!
I like Barkley after Truman's VP!
My soon-to-be-four year old lately recommends Salt as a name for new babies and dogs alike. I have no idea why, but he thinks it's a great name. Maybe it will suit your pup--because it hasn't suited any of our friends with new babies. ;)
How about bess--truman's wifes name?
Phoenix (from the flame)
Or
Mazel (Hebrew for Luck)
Zayda, Zaida (Arabic for Luck)
Seems she has good Luck finding her new family. She can rise from a bad situation...
P :)
Lillie, Molly, Suzy, Stella, my cat is Isabella b/c i love that name, we call her Izzy or Izzy B, Reese, Katie, does she have a trait you see...like one of our dogs as a child was Scamper b/c of the way he walked. My friend's dog's name is Charmin b/c she is soft. Another friend's dog is Country b/c they drove 2 hours into the country to get her. Another friends is Butter b/c she is a butter color. Our dog is Elsa b/c she is a "blonde"....swedish blonde. :o) Another friends is Smokey b/c they got him in the mountains. Our other childhood dog was Cuddles b/c she just wanted to snuggle up. Hazel is cute! I read others and LOVE Barkley, sounds cute for a dog that barks and a constituent of Truman's
Let me know what you choose! How fun! Also, you can google search baby names and I bet you can search dog names! Fun!
