New Bras

So, DS is 16 months, nurses about 2x/day. 1st thing in the morning and usually at home in the afternoon. Not exactly a reason to go out and buy new nursing bras. But, I only have 3 bras total because the boobs have gotten smaller with his decreased demand. I plan to wean him around 2ish, but even if he nurses longer, I don't think his demand will increase. The question is, can I go ahead and buy new bras now in my current size and rely on them to fit me when he weans? Or should I just buy a couple more cheap nursing bras/regular bras until he weans and then buy the good stuff? The bras I have are ragged out so I really need to do something to save the ta-tas.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the advice. I don't remember what happened with the girls when I stopped nursing my 2nd, so I just decided to buy some cheap ones for now, but I think I'll just buy regular bras. I will definitely get fitted though. Yay! Right now I feel so saggy, so any extra support will be worth it. Thanks again!!

I'd go ahead and buy a couple lower-priced nursing bra's, and then after he's fully weaned buy what you really want.

Whether you go cheap or expensive, make sure you are in the correct size to get the support you need. Go by Dillard's and let one of their fitters measure you. It's free. You may change size after you wean the little one and need to measure again. As a former bra fitter, I've seen some who changed drastically and some who didn't. It's all in the hormones.

i went to a place that was awesome, expensive, but awesome. I bought one while i was still nursing....my size did change a bit, but not enough to make the new bra not fit...
it was called Loretta's intimates by Collin Creek Mall...they were fantastic.

I got a very good bra from http://www.favorsandflavors.net It was only $17 and you can wear it night or day. It's designed to make it easy for mom to breastfeed or pump.

go the inexpensive route. "The girls" will continue to change once you wean completely up to about six months after:)

I'd get a few inexpensive bras from Ross or Marshalls until you've weaned. Everybody's different and you may stay the same size you are now or get smaller. Many women end up around the same size they were prepregnancy only a little "emptier" in appearance and feel for lack of a better description ;) I like to think of them as "gracefully sloping and having fulfilled a profoundly beautiful and satisfying, though sacrificial, calling".

Personally, even if I was only nursing once or twice a day, my breasts still didn't reflect the size they'd end up being until at least a month after I stopped nursing, about a cup size less than I was prepregnancy. Then when I realized that my thyroid had been functioning sluggishly since pregnancy and my progesterone was low (which is more common than most would think) and took care of that, my breasts actually got a little bigger. This left me about the same size I'd started out with (I went from a 32 C to 34 B). We were low on funds when I was nursing so I found it practical to just buy inexpensive regular bras and just bring the strap down on my shoulder and bend the cup of the bra downward to nurse or wear a bra that buckled in front. It's cheaper than buying new nursing bras and you have more options to choose from.

Blessings!
