It's probably your internet connection or modem, not your player or Netflix itself.
Mamas & Papas-
Currently we have our home wired with wireless high speed internet, cable, and phone through a triple play bundle. Having a hard time though with our netflix streaming. Its set to stream to our tv through our blueray dvd player. Someone at the office recommended a ROKU as an alternative. Is that the way to go? We watch sesame street and yo gaba gaba during the daytime, and bones repeats, old black adders, and documentaries at night. Getting tired of seeing error messages, buffering, and halts.
Thanks,

We watch Netflix through our Wii game system. We, too, started having issues with our Netflix not working. Turns out it was because the router/modem used to bring in our WiFi, computer, etc., was defective. We had to go out and buy a new router. Once we set that one up, we haven't had any more issues or problems with Netflix working--other than weather/storms, which we can't regulate.
I'm not sure how your system is set up, but if you have a router/modem anywhere in the house and if the high speed internet/cable/phone are on a router, it's a good chance that might be the issue. Is your blueray DVD player on a router? Even if it isn't, there's a good chance it might be running off of a router/modem/WiFi??
I'd find a competent computer geek and have him check out your home set up. He can help you if you need to get/set up a router/modem. Heck, my husband did it himself, and he'd not very computer/techie savvy.
We were having the same problem with our netflix. We only have Netflix (no cable) and it was giving us problems on our internet ready tv and our blue ray player. We even tried the Wii (which we haven't used for Netflix in a few years) and kept having the same problem. We called the internet company and after turning down the suggestion to upgrade to even faster internet, they finally transferred us to someone in IT. He discovered that we were using a really old, outdated modem. We invested in a new modem and Netflix is back to cooperating. It's no longer stopping to load or giving us error messages.
We had the same problem. It turned out that the phone box on our house was ancient and every time it rained or snowed, water would get inside the box and it ruined the wires but we also lost our phone connection. The phone company came out and replaced the box and now we have no problems. We stream through the WII but now the battery died so thats not working.
We have a ROKU because i got tired of fighting over Netflix on who watched what when. So now, I can carry around the ROKU to any tv in the house and everyones happy. Its $100 for the ROKU.
We have a smartv that we stream Netflix through. No cable here. No issues with streaming either. Are you sure it's not your Internet service? I have very little experience with Roku, but I haven't heard about any streaming issues with them.
We purchased a "Smart TV" for Christmas and hvae not had any problems.. We watched Netflix all day yesterday.. We had a "Ugly Betty" Marathon.
We watch with our Apple TV or iPod. I also purchase movies through it and refuse to buy anymore DVD's. The only time I have trouble is when my daughter watches in the car using the iPhone, sometimes it loses the signal.
We stream Netflix though computer, a PS3, 3DS and a Roku depending on what room the viewer is in.
Your router or modem could be failing.
The BluRay player could be dropping the wifi connection. This can happen with any wireless device, including Roku. One solution is to run a line to the device instead of using wifi.
Your internet service could be too slow (even if it says high-speed)
Your ISP could be throttling your speed due to high bandwith usage. They sometimes do that on personal accounts.
If you have cable internet, you could live in an area with a lot of users and certain times of day are high traffic.
We watch netflix through our Apple TV device and have limited issues. We actually got rid of our cable and phone and only use apple tv with net flicks or we watch tv shows online. It was hard to make the switch, but we will never have cable again after this experiment, we still get the shows we want but without the huge monthly cable fee.
