Nervous Stomach - Atlanta,GA

OMG. I can't take it anymore. I have the worst case of nervous stomach (don't know a medical definition...if one exists). Whenever I'm about to have a meeting my stomach does flips and makes the most embarrassing noises. I get the worst case of gas. It's uncontrollable. I do have medicine but I don't think it's working so I'm making another appointment with the doctor to see if I can get something different or stronger.

Does anyone have any experience with this? What did you do? I try breathing to calm myself but it doesn't seem to be working. I so need help because I will need to interview for a new job soon because my department is being outsourced.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It was so bad today, my stomach hurt. I can't remember how many times I've walked to the bathroom. I did use it a few times. And the other times I'd go in there and just pray or breathe or try to force myself, knowing it's just nerves.

It's pretty quiet here so I just feel like everyone hears my stomach making these embarrassing noises. I didn't even finish my breakfast sandwich. And concentrate? That's a definite no. I couldn't get my mind right this morning to save my life. Sheesh.

The meeting was put off until tomorrow morning. I tried to shoot for a phone/video conference but we all work on the same floor. Darn them and their meetings. And now that it's over (at least for today) my stomach is settled. Argh. I even took two of the pills prescribed and of course that didn't help.

I'm going to take your advice and head to the herbal store this afternoon and speak to my pharmacist when I pick up a prescription today.

I pray tomorrow goes well. Thanks ladies.

A few swigs of Pepto maybe? Also keep in mind that no one is better than you. We are all the same. Don't be intimidated by ANYone.

I take a supplement with digestive enzymes & herbs in it, along with other ingredients - it's patented (which hardly any food products are) so I know it is safe, effective and unique. I also take a new anti-stress/anti-fatigue drink that is NOT one of those dangerous energy drinks. It has no caffeine, no stimulants of any kind, no sugar, no sodium - it's specifically based on brain science (and is formulated by a food science company, not just a drink company out to make $$).

Medications tend to treat the symptoms and not the causes, so they aren't always as effective. Also, many pills upset the stomach and make things worse.

Edit - I see you are in Atlanta. There was just a HUGE conference in Atlanta in February where all the above was laid out. I was there and it was awesome to hear the scientists talk about it all.

Sounds like me. I have anxiety and ibs and they both cause this nervous stomach. I usually end up in the bathroom with excessive urination or diarhea. Watch out for caffeine. This tends to make the gurgling and urgency worse. What is happening is that your colon is in spasm from the stress/ adrenaline release. Some safe foods are applesauce, oatmeal, sourdough bread and French bread. Deep breathing and visualization can calm you some. I have an ocean waves app on my phone.

You are not alone. Good luck.

I have nervous stomach too. In addition to the flip flopping stomach and gas, I also get the runs. My voice gets all shaky and I tend to really over compensate, especially in interviews. Or a I ramble. Not fun. I don't know how to control it. I pray and that helps to calm me a little bit, but the nerves are still there. For me, it happens whenever I'm going into an unknown situation. Sometimes it even happens before I go to gatherings with my family. I just deal with it because I know that it will pass.

Good luck!

Try a supplement with magnesium in it. There are drink mixes you can get, one that I know of is natural calm & it is an anti-stress drink.

This is a little late, but I do meridian tapping for physical and psychological trouble. I got the free eBook and it really helps me -- I feel more in control of my body's latent energy.

there are herbal stress remedies. I take a tablet that works within 30 minutes. Have you tried something like that?

I have the same problem but I don't just have sounds - I have to go to the bathroom as well. Now when I have a situation coming up when I know it might be a problem, I take an immodium beforehand. It helps with trips to the bathroom, but I don't know if it will also help with the noises.
