Hey all! I am thinking about joining LA Fitness in McKinney in a week or so. I am really impressed with the prices and classes they offer. I was wondering if anyone could tell me (who is a member at McKinney) what you think about the childcare that is offered. I am sure my 2 1/2 yo son would have a blast there, but I am a little nervous leaving him with strangers, even if I will be working out nearby. Thank you so much in advance! :-)

Wow! Thank you so much for the responses. :-) I will be taking a tour sometime next week during their busy time, probably around 8 or 9am. Thanks again!

They DONT do background checks on the people that work in the childcare. I almost decided to go there as well and didn't because of that. There are few things you can control in life and knowing that you did everything you could to protect your child left me to not go to that gym. Just thought I would let you know!

I've been going there since last summer. I have two little ones that love the kids club. At first I worried and my 20 month old cries when I left, but now they run in there and start playing. They don't even notice when I walk out! The girls are all very nice and they just hired a guy. At first I thought that was odd, but my girls love him. He plays with them and colors with them. I have never had a problem. Also, there are always moms going in and out of there, so if there was a problem, another mom would see it and report it.

Hey S.!! My son LOVES playing while I work out. Have you been there to look at it yet? They have a playground and even computer the kids can play on. My son turned 3 in October and has so much fun there that sometimes he doesn't want to leave. What classes are you interested in taking? E-mail me and maybe we can figure out a time to work out together so the boys would have each other to play with!

Hello. I am not a McKinney member of LA Fitness but , but I visit several of them and have a 1 year old - Plano is my main one. I was very impressed when I first started with the day care - I went to every single gym in the area and was impressed the most by LA Fitness BUT they will tell you anything to get you to sign. They said they follow the state guidelines for caregiver to kid ration and when I went to the Rowlett location they were not. I know it is extra busy because it is Jan, but they had over ten kids in there all different ages with only two caregivers. Just like any other gym they have a lot of turn over. Because it is a private gym they do not have to do anything that the state requires so if you sign up and they have a change midstream then you can't get out of anything based on their promises. I still think they are the best I have seen and my daughter and nieces who also go do have a good time. I just spy on them during my workout.

Hi - I am a member at LA Fitness in Mckinney. However, I am in the process of cancelling (needing to cut out extra costs right now) But I would like to give you my opinion on the childcare that I wish someone had given me.
Before going there, I had never left my 2 1/2 year old son with anyone besides his Nana. I was terrified and so was he. He cried the first SEVERAL times I left him but it seemed like the longer I stayed the more upset he got. The girls that watch the kids in there are usually teenagers or around that age. What I didn't like was the fact that many times there were way too many kids and not enough "watchers". I left because of this. Of course it is always busier between early morning hours and btwn 5-6pm. But what I didn't know when I signed up was that the Kids Club is only open from like 8am-noon and then I think 4pm-8pm or something like that. Those probably aren't the exact hours (can you tell I haven't been in awhile?!) but the point is that they were never open when it was convienant for me to go like before/after nap time, etc. So I hope this helps in your decision and let me know if you have any other questions!

I just started in December working out and taking my daughter to the Kids Klub. At first, I was worried, but she really enjoys going and runs into her friends there a lot. When my husband is home, I leave her at home, but he has a really busy work schedule. Although it is not the best childcare around, it is the best childcare for the purpose of working out.

Otherwise, I would have to get a babysitter and worry about hurrying back and pay for the hour and a half to two hours. With having the Kids Klub there, I can fit in working out and have her watched when it is more convenient. It is only open from 8-12 and 4-8, but I assume that is because there is a low turnout the other times. In an ideal world, I'd like to see more workers, but since we don't schedule our kids to be there, they probably can't account for the number of kids (and scheduling workers).

I love working out there. I really worried about going to a gym where all the people were perfect looking. There are some perfect looking people (guess working out comes more naturally to them), but for the most part, it is about just average people trying to take better care of themselves.

Kids Klub also helps me eliminate just one more reason I have used in the past to not work out.

Good luck...
