I just ruptured a disk in my back... I'll spend the day listening to healing school on the KCM. Right now I can't move and can barely type without feeling like I'm going to pass out. I think Pam probably wished this on me..... JUST KIDDING LOL!

I'm going to be positive about this because being negative wont help.

Dawn...I don't know what's happening at my daughters work. The store manager is treating her very badly. He comes into the area and high fives the other woman and talks to everyone except her. Her actual supervisors, the ones that hired her and the ones that could fire her have been off the last few days or busy. She was already off the schedule for this weekend and she is on the schedule for Monday. So at this point she's waiting. I'd really like to throttle them all for leaving her hanging. I guess maybe they want her to have to sit and stew over what she did. I could see them being upset if the store lost merchandise. But seriously, the diamonds were in the locked glass case in the middle of a Sears store and even if the cleaning crew wanted to take them they would have had to break the lock or the glass. I'm not minimizing that they should have been put in the safe. But they don't have a right to treat her like this.

She doesn't want to lose the job because it would look bad on her record and she wants to stay long enough to show longevity on her employment record. But the mom in me wishes they would have just fired her instead of giving her snide remarks and silent treatment. She hasn't even gotten an official verbal or written warning. She's just been told they will talk about this.

I didn't hurt myself. I put it out. I've read about ruptured disks. You are thinking of slipped disk. Ruptured disk is when the fluid is leaking. That heals over time by itself. There is nothing the doctors can or will do. Since I'm not having muscle spasms relaxers won't help. The best thing is just to move around as much as possible so that the muscles don't get tight from non-use. Slipped disk is what would have to be put back. Sprain and strain is something else completely. This happens to me every few years and I do absolutely NOTHING to cause it. It happens to my husband and my 3rd daughter all the time too. I actually do believe a lot of it is spiritual. It's a generational curse. My father dealt with it too.

I'm doing a little better already. I'm alternating ice and heat and I have one of those massaging pillows with the rotating balls. I make myself get up and move every 20 minutes or so. I don't feel like I'll pass out anymore.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks Cheryl. I'll be fine and yeah, it's painful. It seems to be a family curse. It's been a year and a half since the last time I did this and it was almost a full year before my pain was completely gone. I REFUSE to accept this pain this time! Jesus already paid the price for my healing. Satan can throw it at me. But I don't have to keep it.

Have you heard of bone cement or fusion? That may help alleviate the current issue and help with future ones...

Are you suspecting a ruptured disc or did you pull a muscle or something? They are very different things. I have done it several times and it had to be diagnosed with an MRI. The disc doesn't just go back it, it has to be repaired by a laminectomy or spinal fusion. If it is bulging, physical therapy might work. Either way, a doctor is needed. Please do not rely on a radio show.

I ruptured a disc last fall. It was diagnosed with an MRI and I was prescribed pain killers until I could get in to see a spinal surgeon.

I was told 50% of the time if you can manage the pain it will heal on its own and 50% of the time you will need surgery to correct it (to remove the bits of disc "fluid" that leaks out, because it hardens and calcifies into pieces). Your body can reabsorb the pieces if you can get pain management to work or you can have them removed surgically.

I saw a pain management doctor and received two spinal injections...about six weeks apart. They brought the pain down from about an 8 (I have never been in such pain) to about a 4, which was painful but mostly tolerable with ice and ibuprofen.

The person I think actually made me able to make it the 6 to 9 months it takes to heal is my massage therapist. I would go and see her and be pain free for two to three days. A couple of hours after my second massage my leg felt really weird and I realized that I had the feeling coming back into it (it had been numb from the knee down for months).

You might look into massage therapy. It really helped me with the pain. They don't give you anything for the pain if the spinal injections don't work...well they offer you some anti-depressants that are suppose to help with nerve pain, but all they did was make me sick.

Sending you a big hug from someone who has been there!!
