I was told that I could enroll my 5 year old in summer school to help get him ready to start school. I was wondering if that is true and if so where do I start? I am all new to this.

What can I do next?

I have had two children and NEVER had to do that. Now I also realize that each child is different. I have known alot of children that NEVER went to school before hand. Now what I did do, was in the summer. I start the routine before school so that the kids would be prepared and ready for the up coming schedule. This is suffient to prepare them for the coming schooling. You will have to decide if this is something you feel comfortable with or not. I will share my feelings on this one. That schooling is all about opinions. Who feels more comfortable with this or that. So decide what you do and do not want your child to have to do in school. I remember one time I got into a fight with the Principle and the Secretary cause they wouldn't let my daughter use the phone in the office. I went off! I told them that my TAXES payed for that stupid phone and she better be able to use that phone anytime she wishes and if there were anymore problems I would be calling my counselman. It was winter time and she was waiting for me to come from a Dr. Appt. they wouldn't let her stay inside. She was waiting in the snow when I got there. I was 10 mins late which I told her I might be. This was a grade school so you need to pre think some of the things that happen. Are you in walking distance or bus? Hope things work out well for you and let me know how it goes. Good Luck Momma

Call the school that your child will be going to and they can give you the information. Or if you know it, get on their website and you will have a ton of info at your hands.

Jacqueline,
I know my granddaughter went to school last summer in Claycomo.
So I can be fairly certain there would be a place for your son to go in
Independence. Just find out what school he would attend and call them
and get him signed up. My best to you!!!! K.
