I have four children, of whom three I birthed. I usually don't keep on weight but this time around I can't seem to lose anything. I am seriously thinking of eating yogurts and noodles all day to fill my stomach and not gain any weight. Can anyone give me any tips to lose weight quickly. I'm desperate
I did the GM diet about two months after I had my son. I lost 25 pounds in 2 weeks and then I stayed there. I followed the gm diet to a T and lost an additional 7 pounds in a week. That kind of jumpstarted me and motivated me to eat right and start running again. I highly recommend it.

Looks like an infomercial down the list of responses. Look, three kids is going to pull your "abs" muscles away from the stomach. Three kids will prevent anyone who doesnt starve and workout like a fiend after the baby (i ask all those people... where are the babies when you are working out like that 8 hours a day?) You will probably will have to kiss your flat stomach goodbye unless you opt for surgery. In reality, you need to eat a lot of veggies and a diet of MODERATION. There nothing is off limits, but instead of the 10oz ribeye, get a fillet or cut the 10oz to a 5 but eat all the veggies you can out in your stomach.. that sort of thing. Get some exercise too. You get what you put into any "diet" plan. So if you are not 100% committed you have a 100% chance of failure. You can do this, but do it when you are ready.
OH and if it says it is fast, its not. If you lost 10lbs on a magic tea diet, as soon as you go off the magic tea diet you will gain back 12lbs because you deprived your body and it will then take anything you eat and store it as fat for the next time you deprive it. If you need to lose weight, it wont be fast. Take a look at the tv show biggest loser... and look at how many of them went right back to being fat. they did not change their LIFESTYLE, and that is the only way to naturally lose weight.

Quick is not usually safe, good for your body and long lasting. Go for exercize and weight watchers, they work wonders. I lost 25 lbs in 16 weeks. That's about 1.5 lbs a week which is what they say is safe (1-2 lbs a week, possibly 5 lbs the first week) and you are more likely to keep it off when it is slow, which is the objective, keeping it off. It's didn't take a month to put the weight on, so it shouldn't take month to take it off. If you don't want to do weight watchers, it's all about low fat protein, lots of water, 5 or more servings of fruit and veggies a day and whole grains. Some carbs and sweets to stave off the cravings, but not too many. Good Luck.

I was a size 10 or 12 before I had my 2nd baby and now am a size 4 or 6 and this is how it happened. During both of my pregnancies I had gestational diabetes. With my 2nd pregnancy we found out I had it very early on so I was on a strict diabetic diet from then on. A diabetic diet is low carbs & sugars, high protein & fiber, etc. Once you get used to eating that way, it really is not bad at all. After I gave birth, I did not have the diabetes anymore, however I have stuck with this diet because IT WORKS! I am never hungry - the protiens keep you feeling full. I eat snacks between all meals. If I do eat something sweet, like a piece of fruit or yogurt, I eat it between lunch and dinner. I was seeing a nutritionist while pregnant so I learned all these little tricks to keep my sugar levels down, but eating this way is also a great healthy way to lose weight and keep it off! I was a real sweet tooth my entire life and never thought I would be able to stick with a diet like this but now it is second nature. I don't even miss sweets. When I look at a food label I never look at fat content, I only look at sugars. If it has a lot of sugar, I just don't eat it. It's more than a diet it's a whole new way of looking at food. It really works for me. Good luck to you!!!

Desperate??? Why? Is there a medical need that makes you need to loose your weigh so quickly? Have you outgrown your professional wardrobe and are due to return to work in the next few weeks? It took 10 months to put on the weight.. It will take a while to take it off. You're three years older than the last time you gave birth.. Metabolism changes as you get older.. You're not a teenager anymore.. But that's OK. Just eat healthfully, get some exercise and take care of your family... Don't let your vanity get in the way of your health or happiness.

I know you sound desperate but there is no quick fix for losing weight. If you lose weight wuickly chances are you're losing muscle and retaining fat which will only make you fatter in the long run. Starvig yourself will surely make you lose muscle and slow down your metabloism. You need to eat lots of vegetables, choose low sugar fruits and eat lean proteins. Stay away from refined flour and sugar. Read your labels. Eating a low glycemic diet is not only the best way to lose weight but it also helps lower cholesterol and blood pressure and keep diabetes unser control. If you want a "boost" to help aid in the weight loss try Thermochrome. You can get it from this link http://www.marketamerica.com/pgp/index.cfm?action=shoppin...
I lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks but more importnant than the weight is that I lost 3 inches off my waist and inches off my thighs so I could actually cross my legs again! This was just through low glycemic eating. You can learn more about a low GI diet at www.transitionslifestyle.com

Since learning how to exercise at Curves I am able to do it at home now. Maybe you could try it or another gym until you get a routine down. Portion control is another biggie. I eat off a salad plate most nights now and try not to take seconds. Oh and if you drink soda, beer or wine, I know stopping will drop a couple of pounds. I have lost 25 lbs. in the last year, but it looks like more thanks to the exercise. Good Luck.

Y., there is a whole lotta stuff you can try, but here are a couple of things I recommend.
1. "The Fat Smash Diet" - The doctor from "Celebrity Fit Club" wrote the book. It's a long term diet, but it starts with a 9 day food cleanse that is a great kick start to any other diet.
2. If you have the money, I found this cleanse to be very interesting: http://blueprintcleanse.com/ I haven't tried it, but if I had the money I would.
I think either option will give you the initial quick weight loss you desire, but then you need to find a regular diet and exercise program to maintain.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Noodles will not do it, that's just carbs. What has worked very well for me is to eat nothing but fruit in the AM (no limits to how much, just make sure it's only fruit) as it will act as a body cleanser, and then simply watch your caloric intake throughout the rest of the day. Also, exercise when you can - this is essential.

Hi Y.,
Why do you have to lose it soon? A wedding coming up? Just curious. LOL !
My company has very healthy products that in combination will help you lose weight safely. Yogurt diet will only clog you up and there is a lot of sugars in that! Not the best diet. I do know that grapefruits (Try red ones sweeter) are negative calorie foods. You will lose by eating them-cool!
Then my company has a Glu-Care which balances your sugar in your body and if taken before a meal-you will eat less and it will curb any sweet tooth you got going. Our energy drink with our diet cookie together is also a negative calorie snack! Cool too and tastes great. And lastly our Appetizer Shake with one Appetizer cookie replaces one meal. And of course the Fiber so that you will eliminate often and get rid of middle stuff in intestinal and colon. It does work well.
It's kind of a program. I know a group of my Team mates have a weight loss club now and they report their weight loss weekly. Some have lost about 25 lbs in 2 weeks. I'm not saying you will but that is healthy dieting and fun. Eat Cookies-Lose Weight!
If interested go to http://mariji.vitamark.com and there you can check out cost and see if you want to try. Everything is 100% guaranteed if you do not like it. It's worth a shot if you want safe and healthy and keep it off too. And eat as you go. You don't need to starve yourself. In fact when you stop eating, you gain weight! Fat cell increase -the "starvation" survival cell start to duplicate! bad news. Oh, and omega 3's and 9's also good for your brain and body to burn up fats! Believe this it is true!
Good luck and I hope you meet your goal. You can call me at any time. ###-###-#### M.!

I know how hard it is...my approach, which has worked for me is eating half-portions of all meals and drinking a lot of water. And I find my body does better if I just have a small breakfast to get my metabolism going - a piece of fruit or small bowl of cereal, or even just a thing of lowfat yogurt.
Depending on your body, noodles can be your enemy. Some people put on most weight from eating carbs. Best to fill up with lots of fruits and veggies, as exciting as that sounds :)

Yogurt and noodles? sounds like you want to hibernate instead. Yogurt is full of calories and noodles are loaded with carbs that if not burned off will turn to fat and sugars in your body.
I think you know the fastest way to lose weight would be to eat lots of fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean meats and to EXERCISE! Get rid of the dairy-you can supplement for the calcium, and get rid of the sugar and junk.
Drink just water. This means no juices(unless freshly squeezed by you), no coffee, no soda, and especially no wine or beer.
PLease, please please do not fall for diet traps. No pills or quick solutions that are "natural". It is only truly natural if you dig it out of the ground not pop it open from a bottle or pry it open from a box.
There are alot of herbal remedies that taken over a period of time or frequently can be very harmful for your body. If these solutions are really this wonderful and work this amazing then NO ONE WOULD BE OVERWEIGHT! Your going to waste your time and your money. Trust me! Please do your research on anything like that.
Those are not solutions and they may interfere with your ability to properly burn off fat in the future.
The safest and cheapest way is to use your common sense and eat healthy and EXERCISE. Do you really want to lose alot of weight and not be toned. You want to look good after you lose weight not saggy.

Hi Y. -
You got lots of diet advice and different foods to eat, but no one touched on something else that completely stood out to me (well, not that I read - but you had a lot of responses!!). You work nights - getting home at 12:30 or so - getting to bed... 1-2 maybe? Then do you get up early with the kids? There is research to show that not getting enough sleep and/or working evening/nights leads to difficulty with weight loss. There may not be much you can do about your sleep habits - but if you can really get good, restful sleep for 7-8 hours - that may help. Again- you work evenings, you have 4 children - one is 9 mos old.....I get it!
Another thing you can try to do is get outside - in the sunshine during the hours of 10-2. Vitamin D is huge in many things, including weight loss. NO SUNSCREEN! (unless of course there is something I don't know about) - not for very long - lighter skinned people need 15-20 minutes - DON'T BURN!!! Darker skinned need up to 2 hours. The more you can get vitamin D into you, the better - natural is better!!
Also - eat healthy - diets don't work. Eat as much food raw as you can - fresh veggies (uncooked as much as you can), fresh fruit, salads. Make carbs the lesser part of the whole days allowance of food - but keep them in. Just make sure they are whole grain (whole grain is better than whole wheat even). Eat as much as you can natural, unprocessed, and fresh/uncooked. The more fruits and vegetables you add - the more you well...poop. That gets rid of a lot of things in your body - toxins, weight - so on and so forth.
You can also go to Mercola.com - he has eating plans set up by blood type. I have never tried it and don't know much about it - but you can look into it and see if it works for you. I know some people really rely on it.
But -diets will head you to regaining the weight - losing weight fast will likely be unhealthy and not work. You need health/nutrition or you will end up more tired - which is the last thing you need - right?!! Good luck! But - you really are still so young - just get in line with your metabolism and try to get some extra sleep if you can!

contrary to popular ads, there is NO way to safely and effectively lose weight quickly and keep it off. If you starve yourself your metabolism will slow way down. Consequently, when you start to eat again you will put on even more weight than you lost in the first place. The only way to effectively lose weight is to eat healthful food (noodles do not cut it) in smaller quantities and move. Using weights--hand weights, ankle weights--for resistance training helps to speed up your metabolism. Eat less, move more. Being committed to your own health and well being and keeping with a sensible program for the long haul. That is how you lose weight and keep it off.

Dear Y.,
Ii takes almost a year to put on the weight, you have to expect it to take that much time to get it off. To lose weight you really need to feed your body. By eating small healthy meals and snack throughout the day, you are keeping you matabolism up and burning calories. Make sure you eat protein, fruits, veggies and whole grains at every meal. Make sure you eat breakfst everyday, if you don't make it a habit. Drink water and low sugar juices, no soda. Make sure you get out of the house, walk around, get excercise and fresh air.
Good luck and hang in there!

Definitly don't eat noodles if you want to loose weight. The best way is tro be healthy(you may want to check with your Dr. for suggestions). Things that I have heard work/or tried are, eliminating all those complex carbs-white foods, switch to whole grains, like whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta and so forth. eat smaller more frequent meals. eat fruit instead of sweets. Don't starve yourself, it'll just make you hungrier and the kids need a happy healthy mom! Diet pills and all the fads don't work and are really bad for you and if they do by chance work for a minute, you gain it back eventually and usually more. If you need a support system, weight watchers is good, they also break down calorie intake to points making it easier to diet. And if you really want to eat something, do it!! Life is about living! Also- yogurts(while good for you) are often very high in calories. Many of the "low fat" food is high in carbs and many of the "low carb" food is high in fat. I would stay away from all those "diet" foods like diet soda and so forth cause they lack nutrition and can screw up metabolism and make you hungrier. a moderate exercise routine may help, but who can do that with 4 kids, i really don't know. Good luck!

There's no magical way to loose weight quickly and more importantly there's NO HEALTHY way to loose weight quickly.
A few things you can do, is eat a variety of foods that are healthy and low in calories like fresh green vegetables, apples, pears, whole grain cereals breads or pastas. Also drink lots of water. And don't forget to exercise or talk long fast paced walks.

You have to eat to live, and with four kids you need to eat well. The best book I ever read was Dr. Dean Ornish's "Eat More, Weigh Less." It's basically high fiber and low fat, like 12-20 grams a day. The part I love about it is that the recipes in the back are great, it's extremely healthy and there are meals you can make early and leave for the family to eat while you're at work at night. It's more about nourishment than portion control.
What works for me in the long run is eating dinner early, around 5, and snacking on fruit at night if I'm hungry later. I've found it is impossible to gain weight eating oranges and apples and I feel much clearer in the morning by avoiding a late dinner. You said you work from 4 p.m. on so if you could eat a healthy meal before you go and bring a bag of fruit to snack on at work you will lose some initial weight pretty fast, enough to spur you on to lose the rest. Good luck!

Honestly that is the worst thing you could do. What exactly do you consider overweight and why do you need to lose it quickly? You had a baby 9 mnth ago after every additional child it usually takes the body longer to snap back. I would check with the dr that it isn't a medical condition you have to worry about. If you eat just noodles & yogurt you will mess up your metabolism & put your health at risk as they don't have enough nutrients to keep you running

Eating no vegetables, fruits or real protein isn't going to make you healthy and isn't a realistic plan to keep the weight off because you can't eat like that forever ... overloading on starchy carbs like noodles that don't have much nutritional value isn't really going to help.
Rather than losing weight fast, my suggestion would be to alter your eating habits in a way that you can live with on an ongoing basis. While I don't know what your eating habits are, when I've worked on losing weight in the past, what I found was really effective for me (I'm not a person who does "plans" like Weight Watchers, not right for me) was my own thing that I called the Quarter Plan. I would eat all my normal meals and snacks, nothing was off limits, but I got rid of 1/4 of the portion of EVERYTHING (except water). I still felt satisfied because I could still have a hamburger if I was making them for my family, I could still have ice cream if it was our monthly visit to Friendly's, still have cake at a party, etc - but I was cutting 1/4 of the calories and fat from my diet :)
Good luck!

Noodles and yogurt isn't going to help you loose weight, because there's not enough fiber. Also noodles are hard to figure out what one serving is. You really need to check your calorie intake and add lots of fruit, vegies, and whole grains. You also need to exercise. You can use one of your kids as a weight. You need to make the time, which means you might have to exercise, while everyone in the house is asleep.

Quick is not always best or permanent. One healthy way I lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks, was to cut out all flour and sugar. Anything with the word "flour" in the ingredients is off limits (including noodles), and so is anything sweetened with sugar, corn syrup, cane sugar, evaporated cane juice (it amazes me.. how many different ways can they disguise "sugar"?) or honey. Dear Y.,
My first advice to you is not to focus on losing weight quickly. Not only is it unhealthy, it is harder on your cardiovascular system. I am 45 years old and gave birth to a healthy and beautiful baby boy 4 months ago. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during the beginning of my 3rd trimester and was forced to modify my diet. My doctor basically told me to stay away from anything white, i.e. pasta, white bread, rice, etc., soda (diet ok) and limit intake of fruit juices and fats. Focus on greens, salads and proteins. Active yoghurt cultures are excellent for maintaining good bacteria in the gut but watch the calories. Noodles are loaded with carbs and high in sodium (if you're contemplating Ramen noodles or similar). What I propose is not a carb free plan, just a limited one. Also, with 4 kids I am sure an exercise schedule is out of the picture. My suggestion is to walk as much as you can and maybe even buy a pilates cd or 2. Try to involve the kids whenever you work out(i'm sure they'll love it!). Trust me, the weight will come right off! I started losing weight right away and was 40 pounds lighter post-baby. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hi Y.,
I've been cutting calories, increasing fiber, and increasing activity to lose weight. I'm eating a lot more salad with low fat dressings, lean proteins, and Fiber One chewy granola bars as a snack - they're great! Portion control is a big one when it comes to counting calories. You really need to pay attention to what you "think" is a serving. I've lost 30 lbs. since May and am still losing.
One of my favorite sites is www.hungry-girl.com There's a cookbook out now, and it is fantastic! In the cookbook there are a lot of great alternative recipes to classic/favorite dishes. The website provides tips/tricks on how to cut or save calories from favorite menu items, and provides Weight Watchers points and nutritional information for every dish. There's even a daily email you can sign up for - and it's all free (except the cookbook, of course!). I found the cookbook at Wal-Mart for about $15. Soooo worth it!
If you're nursing, don't forget to should check with your Dr. before cutting calories or starting any other diet!
Good luck!

I tried the Mega-T Green Tea dietary supplement pill. You can get it over-the-counter in Walmart for about $10 for a 45 day supply. Using that combined with a little Tae Bo (2-3 days a week) I was able to lose 45 lbs in 3 months! It was a wonderful experience. It helped to bring up my metabolism and energy and lower the amount of food I took in. I know not all diets work the same for everyone, but you could give it a try. All you have to do is be determine to stick with it. You take 1 pill twice a day with water and do some exercising and eat as you normally would. And you will see that you will take in less and less food at the time goes on and more and more fruits, vegetables and water - things your body really needs.
Also, and most importantly...make sure you are taking calcuim, iron and/or other vitamins, because whenever you are making changes to your body, you must supplement the change with a good balance of enrichments and vitamins...its vital to your health. A good brand is "Nature's Made".
If you try it, let me know how it works for you! Good Luck!!
