Hi D.!
I have some info I'd like to share with you - here's my email: ____@____.com I have 2 friends - one finished 2 years ago and another just now finishing...so I have info from them to pass along to you and your mom.
My mom had breast cancer 20 years ago and had a double mastectomy and reconstruction - she didn't have to do chemo or radiation. She recently found a lump next to one of her implants that turned out to be breast cancer. They removed the cancer and she will start chemo next week. She will have four rounds of chemo - each round being two weeks apart. She's pretty sure that she will lose her hair within the next month or so.
I have two questons:
1. Does anyone know of a good wig store? My mom lives in Denton and I live in Flower Mound so anywhere fairly close would be great. She wants to find a place and have some wig or other head covering options before her hair falls out.
2. Can anyone recommend a good online or group meeting for woman dealing with breast cancer? She really needs to find a support group so that she can become better informed about what will happen once she starts chemo and be able to talk about her treatment with people going through the same thing.
Thanks so much!
D.

My Mother-in-Law owns a wig shop--it's called Sylvia's Wigs. It's in Dallas but it's supposedly one of the best. I don't know much about wigs, but they've been in business for over 30 years!
I am not familiar with any support groups, etc.
I do have a couple of friends who were diagnosed with cancer and they swear by a place called Mimi's in Richardson.
That might be a little far for you but that is a pretty well known place for cancer patients. It is on the SW corner of Coit and Campbell in the Richardson/Far North Dallas area.
Best wishes to your mom.
Try meetup.com for a support group. Breastcancer.org also has a discussion forum that looks like an online support-type group. You might just goodsearch.com the term "breast cancer support group, your city, tx" and see what pops up. Best wishes during this difficult time.
