Need to Find a Quest Location That Has an Infant Specialist

My doctor has recommended that I take my 5 month old to have blood drawn for an allergy panel. I am unable to get a live person on the phone at Quest but want to find a location that has an infant specialist so they don't poke and prod my little one. Does anyone know a location with an infant specialist or does anyone know someone who works at Quest who might know this? Or is there a phone number where I can get a live person on the phone? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi D....my son was tongue tied and I decided to have the surgery done. He had to have blood drawn at 7 months and I took him to the Quest which is on Coral Ridge drive and Sample one block from University Drive). The personnel was very gentle and I was more afraid than my son. She distracted him with a ball and it took seconds (no prodding or poking).

I was very satisfied.

Hi,

I took my son to the one in Weston Regional Park. There are 2 women there and I was told they specialize in kids. They did a great job. You can call them and make an appoitnemnttoo, so you don't have to wait. Best of luck! A.

Hi D.!

I had to take my daughter for the same test when she was 10 months old. I took her to the one in Deerfield. Hillsboro and Miliary Trail. They only stuck her once!!!
Good Luck :)

my little guy just had to have his blood drawn at quest and they did a good job (hard for me, but he did fine ;) you can never get a human on the phone with quest, but if you just stay on their automated line and push random buttons, eventually you get on with an operator! anyway, i cant remember the exact address of the place we went to, but it was on 4th ave, just north of broward blvd in plantation (just behind the publix). the zipcode is 33317...thats how they do the automated search to find you a clinic. good luck!

I had the same problem with my son when he was 11 months old and he ended up getting poked and prodded and traumatized over and over again without a drop of blood coming out. I ended up begging my pediatricians office to let the nurse there take his blood. It was a whole billing issue and I had to sign some paperwork to guarantee I would pay the bill. In the end, she was the only one who was able to get the blood needed for the test. You may want to try and work something out with your pediatrician because anyone who takes blood says they can take it from an infant but I didn't find that to be true at all.
Good Luck.

I have been to the Quest on University in Tamarac when my now 7 year old was that age up until 2. At the time, they were the one's with the infant specialist. Having had to have his blood drawn many times, my biggest suggestion is to swaddle the baby (we used this technique until he was 4 in variations). The person who drew his blood the first time happened to have been at the hospital and told me to do that because the biggest reason that they have to re-draw is because they use their other hand to bat the needle or squirm. Swaddling calms them and helps to keep the other limbs out of the way. Good luck!
