During this school year, which started in April for us, my 10 year old daughter is studying books on kid businesses and finance as one of her electives. I need a lot more books to add to what she is reading though. So far I have had her read Tyler & His Solve-a-Matic Machine by Jennifer Bouani, Growing Money: A Complete Investing Guide for Kids by Gail Karlitz, and the 4 Kids' Entrepreneurial Books series by Dianne Linderman. What else is out there? Can anyone recommend some more great, interesting books on the subject of successful financial preparation for kids? I am all for balance. If there are books along the lines of A Christmas Carol by Dickens, I would love to add ones with messages like that too.

Robert Kiyosaki 'Rich Dad Poor Dad' has a board game called 'Cash Flow'. There is a version for adults and one for children. A lot of fun. Check out www.Richdad.com Teaches kids how to develope a residual income.
It is not available in stores.

PS I think I will look into some of the books that you wrote about. My oldest is going on 8.

A friend recommended to me Money Matters for Kids. I haven't had a chance to explore it yet, but several people have said it is a fun and easy to understand resource. They also have books on ways that kids can earn money as entreprenuers. Sounds interesting.

Warren Buffet has a website for kids. I don't recall what's it's called but google it.

I think it's great that you're doing this now. It's something that McDonald's knows, get them young and you'll have them for life. Good financial understanding starts now.

I really like The Trumpet of the Swan by EB White. It's about a swan who saves money to geta trumpet and then works by playing for humans. Cute...
Another good book is Think and Grow Rich... it is an adult book, but very easy reading and has a very good message.

HI M.:

I'm sure you have heard of ING Corp? If you go into their site at ingdirect.com and go into Learn More, then go into the Shop and view all items. There they have books for kids in planning their financial future. They have a "The Everthing Kids Money book", etc... Anyway, it wouldnt hurt to look into it. ING is a great company and I have been with them for over 4 years. They are a great investment firm. Hope this helps

The Motley Fool (www.fool.com) has great resources for all sorts of money issues, questions and situations. They have a book about about Teens and Money that is highly recommended. I've read their Money After Forty book and it is outstanding. Also "The Millionaire Next Door" might be a bit over her head, but is another good book with sound, reasonable advice.
