not much you can do about it.. sorry.. I guess you can try to humidify the house or use saline drops, but they are one of the fun side effects of pregnancy..

Have you tried a humidifier in your room at night? You also might want to have the doctor checking your blood pressure, just to make sure your pressure isn't up. Are you having headaches? Hope this helps. You might want to talk to your son about what is happening, and make sure he knows the baby isn't doing this to you! Good luck. -N.

i agree with teh other post but in additaion to the humidifier and vasaline my Ent Dr said that once you have a weak area in your nose you should use bacatration on a q-tip and it will mot only mositen your nose but it will alow any irratitaed areas to heal..

My son who is 5 has had a lot of problems w/ nose bleeds and even had vessels in his nose cautarized a coupld of times. His pediatric ENT tells us to place some vaseline inside his nose to keep his membranes moist especially during this time of season. That helps tremendously. While you are experiencing the nose bleed, tip your head back slightly and pinch the bridge of your nose. This does help and has been suggested as treatment in the American Academy of Pediatrician's books. Good luck.

I feel for you! The first time (and only time) I experienced nose bleeds were during pregnancy. Unfortunately, there is little you can do to alleviate them. During pregnancy, your volume of blood increases signficantly, and this is probably the cause of the bleeds. My doctor didn't have any suggestions. Good luck!

I've had the same problem with all 3 pregnancies. I find putting vasaline on a Q- tip and lubricating the inside of both nostrils 2-3 times a day and using saline spray 5-6 times a day helped the best. A humidifier also helps. This time around has been real bad and I told my other 2 kids that I'm getting them b/c of the heat and dry air. Neither of them have questioned me any further on the topic and I was bleeding all the time before I could get my nose lubed up enough. Good luck!

I have lived a life full of nose bleeds. Being hydrated is a preventive plan to cut down on them. Homes are dry in the winter and this causes the membranes to dry out and thus they begin to bleed. Also the post below is another issue!
Your 6yr old is plenty old enough to know that noses can bleed and that it is not life threatening. Explain to him BEFORE the next one happens what is going on.
When your nose begins to bleed sit down with your tissues and tip your head back slightly. You really don't want a ton of the blood to go down your throat, let it bleed a bit instead. The vessels will clot within minutes and you will be all set. A tried and true remedy, if you can stand the smell, is to put apple cider vinegar on a cloth or towel and put it up your nose. It stops it quickly and if you put one up there after a nose bleed, it really does cut down on them. I have done this several times.

Not too much you can do for this. Your body's blood volume increases about 50% during pregnancy and your head is very vascular. Thats why many pregnant women get so many nose bleeds!! As uncomfortable as it sounds, you can try holding an ice pack on the back of your neck tilting your head slightly back when you get the nose bleed.... the idea is that the cold will help the blood vessels constrict and clot off...pinch the bridge of your nose.... if it really works, i honestly can't say but its worth a try! Good Luck!
