Hi fellow moms!
My mother-in-law had surgery where they removed part of her colon and she had to have a temporary colostomy(pouch) placed for a few months and then they went back in and closed it up. Anyways, this happened about 2 years ago. She is still have a tremendous amount of pain near the surgical site. I think this is abnormal.
She lives in a small town outside of Dallas. So, she does not have a big choice of doctors to see. She would like to come into Dallas and see a doctor for help or a second opinion of what is going on and why she is still having so much pain after all this time. Does anyone know of a good gastroenterologist? Thank You!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

First of all, thank you to everyone for your help. My MIL had an appt with Dr. Isbell @ Medical City of Dallas last week but ended up being seen by Dr. Wintererger b/c Dr. Isbell got caught up in surgery. Anyway, she was told her symptoms were NOT normal and something else was def. going on. So, she is scheduled for a coloncoscopy for next week.

THANK YOU again everyone!!

M.,
Grapevine Baylor saved my husband's life when they found the cause to his ischemic attacks he was having. He was missing blood flow to a part of his colon and the doctor there took the time to figure it out. They were wonderful! He had a host of doctors...Dr. Pollard was the surgeion and Dr. Steven W Lacey was the gastroenterologist. I have gone to Dr. N. Mehta in Flower Mound for IBS.

Hope your mom is out of pain soon.

My husband had the same surgery 6 months ago. He still complains about the wound site being sensitive and painful. I don't know the time frame of the pain level lessening. He has been very satisfied with the Chief Surgeon at Presbytarian Hospital in Dallas. His name is Dr. Shires. He is difficult to get an appointment with because he is a much wanted surgeon, but I would try. It would be worth it.
God Bless,
A.

I am in Pharamceutical Sales and call on Gastroenterologists. I highly recommend Dr. James Weber in Grapevine and Dr.Stephen Ferney in Bedford. They are fantastic doctors and have great bedside manner. I hope this helps you out!

Hi there,
Hands down- Doctor Gerald Isbell. He has been awarded many times over. He is located at 7777 Forest Lane in Dallas (right off Hwy 75). ###-###-#### is the phone number.
My exhusband sees him regularly for his colitis. Doesn't have much personality but is very professional and explores all options.
Good luck to you and your mother.
