Hello Moms,
I am looking for a durable, quality blender for a reasonable price. We went through a few blenders in the past and just went without when the last one stopped working. I bought one last year and it stopped working midway through the second blend, so we returned it. We have tried several differnt brands, but they seem to wear out. We just want to blend fruit drinks with ice or small blend jobs for recipes, but not nothing major.

What can I do next?

Well durable really depends upon what you are prepared to spend. I would recommend staying away from anything they sell in Wally world and target. Most of them are junk. I bought a cheap one for like $20/$30 about 18 yrs ago and it was a piece of garbage. I don't remember the name but we had wanted it for crushing ice. We burned up the motor after a few uses. I went out and spent around $55 for a CusinArt the next time and that was has worked really well.

I have a cusinart smart power/duet. It is a food processor and blender. It has a button for crushing ice. I think it was about $70.00. It is nice and I have never had any issues. Good luck

I got an Oster Fusion from Target a couple of years ago & it actually works REALLY well! It has a special "ice" function & will actually chop ice to make really good smoothies. AND it won't make you deaf.

I had the Cuisenart food processor/blender one & it was very expensive & SUCKED--You had to add so much liquid to it to get it to blend & it wouldn't chop ice at all. Awful waste of money.

This one was about $50-75 or so, but so far, has been well worth the money! It's got to be my 5th blender & is BY FAR the best one I have EVER had! I love it!

I got the Health Master for Christmas and LOVE it! It was fairly inexpensive. It is a lot like the Vita Mix if you have heard of it. You don't want to skimp on this because you will have to keep replacing it if you do. Check out the link for more info.

Honestly, I've heard so many negative things about new blenders, and I just don't think that they're made to last. I would hit an estate sale or thrift store to see if you can find an old Oster (ask to plug it in and run it up to top speed before buying) because they were real powerhouses...

My other suggestion is for making drinks - put crushed ice into the blender, if your fridge has that dispensing option. I started using crushed instead of cubes, and it's a lot less work for the blender (and not much more for the fridge, it seems). Hope this helps~
