Hi Friends,
I'm hosting a 13th birthday party for our daughter, at our home, and I'm just looking for some new games for her party. She doesn't want to create any crafts (including food craft at this party - done that.) Many times, we've played "guess the person" (name on back) and "present game"(like hot potato but you get to unwrap one layer of the present - prize for all!) . We are doing a neighborhood scavenger hunt, weather permitting, which isn't looking good! I welcome any suggestions for a fun, easy game or activity! Also, wonderful appetizer ideas for a teen are greatly appreciated. She's not a big meat eater but loves chicken and just about all veggies. Thanks in advance!

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for the wonderful party suggestions! We had a neighborhood scavenger hunt, and they played other games but they especially loved the "whipped-cream-pie- in- the- face musical chairs!" (a twist on one of your suggestions) Very fun! Had a smorgasbord of appetizers and took lot's of pictures. Thanks again.

One fun party game would be to take one of Dad's old button down shirts and pin or tape about 20 ordinary household things (or things kids would have around) to the shirt - don't let anyone see it ahead of time - have your daughter put the shirt on and walk around the room past all of the other party goers for 30 seconds to a minute and then have the kids try to remember everything that was on the shirt - give them a pencil and piece of paper but make it clear they can't write anything down before you say go - things you could use to tape to the shirt would be pens, pencils, markers, crayons, keys, clothespins, jewelry, shopping receipts, batteries, headbands - anything that would not make the shirt too heavy for your daughter to wear

Happy Birthday to your daughter – my youngest, my son, turned 24 last week

Both of my girls played these games at there parties and everyone had a blast.

1.) Musical chairs but the loser has to pick from about 4 different kinds of baby food and take a bite. If they do it they stay in and if they don't then they don't. I suggest spinach, green beans, we found the worse they looked the more fun they had.

2.) Build a sundae in your partners mouth. This was just fun. We did it outside, but my daughter went to a party where they put a plastic drop cloth down on the floor. One person lays on the floor. Their partner stands over them and drops a scoop of ice cream into their mouth. Once they get it into their partner's mouth then they do chocolate sauce and eventually whip cream. You can choose how many scoops they have to get into their partner's mouth. Nobody lost they all had a great time. We had shower caps for all and plastic garbage bags for them to where. Some chose to go without and be hosed down afterwards.

3.) The last game they played way to messy for indoors was hot potato with a pie tin filled with whip cream. Whoever had the tin when the music stopped had to decide if they would put it into someone elses face and be out or put it into their own and stay in. They had a blast.

I hope these aren't too messy but they had a great time.

I have a very vivid memory of a game I played at my 13th. We were all given a licorice rope with a piece of Bubblicious gum tied to the bottom. We raced eating the rope - no hands of course - and the first to blow a bubble was the winner.

I also remember one were we had to eat 5 saltine crackers and whistle a tune.

My daughter recommended pizza puffs, there are some without meat, mozzerella sticks (the batter cooked ones), popcorn. The ones in frozen foods by Friday's restaurant are excellent. How about games involving music she likes - recognize this tune in so many notes; recognize song and give artist name; with your eyes closed, there is someone standing in front of you and behind you. The person behind you puts make-up on you while you put make-up on the person in front of you (they have their eyes closed). Hope that helps!

Hi E.,
How about taco dip, chips & salsa or cheese, fruit or veggie pizza (or just with a simple dip).
For games how a about a silly how much can you put on game. Divide into two teams and give the girls a short amount of time (30-45 seconds or so) and see how many clothes they can put on. You could have clothes that are theirs or yours/your spouse (so they would fit over their own clothes), hats, necklaces or braclets. Let one girl put the clothes on and the others could help her out.
Just in case the weather isn't okay for outside don't forget to make a back-up scavenger hunt to do in the house.
Have fun and don't forget to take pictures for the girls to all see later!
