Need opinions here. Have any of you bought from them before? Are they just discontinued product from the big box stores? We are probably going to go with the vinal wood looking planks boards but not official yet. At first I was against vinal and only wanted real hardwood floors but when the sales guy showed me the cost difference (it would be about $8,000 to do my house in hardwood vs $1200 for vinal so that would make more sense but long term I'm thinking about the resale value too. He also asked if I had pets asked if we had pets (we do) he said they would scratch the natural wood floor. Has that happened to you that have hardwood? Also what is the in color right now? Light wood seems like it's a little dated right now unless you live in a loft or very modern house IMO anyway, thoughts on that?
Thank you suzmomof3, I didn't think about the dust bunnies showing up more with the darker wood. Good thing to consider when the final decision is made.
We bought from them about 7 yrs ago & have been very pleased. We don't have the vinyl but I don't blame you for thinking about resale value, that is very important. We don't have pets so it was an easier decision for us.
We have hardwood. And we have three dogs. And they have never scratched our floor. And it's super easy to clean. I wouldn't have anything else.
I will tell you this - the darker the wood, the more dirt and dust bunnies it will show.
I have never bought from them, but they get their stock directly from the manufactures so it is a little cheaper.
Hardwood floors are a much better selling feature than vinyl. There are different types of wood flooring. Pine is a soft wood and will not last long, Oak is harder and is usually used the most. I like bamboo flooring, it is one of the best flooring options and is also ecofriendly. As you look you will find that they all have different prices.
They also make vinyl flooring in strips that looks just like hard wood. These are nice for homes with a concrete slab foundation (like here in Florida) and basement remodels. They are inexpensive and look nice if installed correctly.
I bought from them last year. One of their stores is about an hour away so I drove over to pick up the product rather than pay the shipping. I was doing the basement floor, so I picked a laminate (hardwood would warp in the basement) and have been quite happy with it. It's a pine-type color, thinner boards and a more "realistic" texture rather than just a smooth finish. It looks really, really good in the basement, much better than the carpet I originally intended to buy.
However, I think if I were buying for regular floors of a home, I would go for hardwood over laminate or vinyl. I love my hardwood floors. My dad purchased bamboo flooring a couple years back and it's really, really nice. Worth checking out.
Oh, also my dad installed the flooring himself. I think it was tougher to do than he thought but he did a good job. I had mine installed by my general contractor. Make sure whoever does the installation leaves gaps around the edges for swelling! My contractor screwed that up last year, didn't leave enough of a gap, the laminate bubbled up and he had to come back and fix it in the fall. Fortunately, the laminate was forgiving. Not sure other flooring products would have been.
We purchased 800 sq ft of laminate (not hardwood, but not vinyl) last June and have been very, very pleased with it. My husband installed it in our dining room, kitchen, living room and hallways. It is SO MUCH NICER than our carpet and tile and it is really wearing well. No problems so far and we have 3 very active kids age 7 and under. Make sure that you get the best quality you can afford and when they tell you your order will be in in 7-14 days, it is usually 12-14 days when it comes in. Reputable company and we have no complaints. We we chose laminate Glacier Peak Poplar (12 mm thickness) and are so glad we did because the acoustics in the house are better. Best wishes!
I bought 800 square feet from them, and had my boyfriend install it. The quality was good, and it looks fantastic in my house. I couldnt be happier. The low cost install was nice ;)
I would never buy vinyl. There are plenty of woods out there that are more economical, like bamboo.
We have wood floors and between the dog (he was large 90lbs) and my husband walking in with rocks in his cleats and my daughter dragging things across the floor, it is shot.
If you make folks take off their shoes and make sure your dogs claws are well trimmed, that will help. Also if you choose a hardwood for the floor (like oak) that will help. Our house came with Pine which is just to soft IMO. After 10 years the floor is hidden by area rugs....
