I am a recent single mother and I am getting ready to start a dance class in the Schertz area. I am trying to come up with ideas of places where I could put flyers to get students. Or any other advertising ideas that don't cost a fortune. Any advice would be great. Thanks

I own Party Station in Schertz on 3009. If you would like to bring some flyers by, I will set them out for the moms to pick up.

I love the community center and day care ideas! Even giving a free workshop could go a long way to getting enrollment for your class. I would also try to get an add in Parent Wise or Kids Directory. i don't know how much they cost, but I do know they are in grocery stores everywhere!! Having my own dance business (partnership though, not classical), I know how hard it is to get the word out. You can also do a website so if anyone Googles Dance classes in Shertz you are the one that comes up. There are lots of basic websites available free through Yahoo and AOL so I'm sure other services have them as well.

Best of luck to you!!!

One thing is to offer some classes at the local daycare centers. My daughters had the option of attending Dance at 5:30 pm when they were in daycare. The parents had to be there to dress them into their gear, but it's nice not to have to hull them to another location.

Might be an option to market yourself this way.

Creating a myspace page specifically for your dance class with info about it and yourself, and maybe pictures and videos and then do a search for people in your area and add them to your page. Add everybody you come across if some don't accept that's ok. This has personally brought my my business alot of customers who might not have ever known we existed. Plus it gives people a way to ask you questions and stay connected.

You've had some great ideas...I would also put up notices at any community centers in the area - perhaps offering a discount on your costs if they sign up by a certain time. If there is a community theatre in the area, they may have persons who might benefit from what you're offering as well. Any place that sells dance wear would also be prime locations...maybe provide some fliers and see if the management would agree to put one in with merchandise sold.

Another aside is that the flier doesn't have to be really large for people to read or take notice. Scale down the size by printing on both sides of the paper and using bright attention getting colored paper.

I wish you well in your endeavors!

Craigslist and flyers on bulletin boards at libraries and groceries. Be sure to put tear off numbers under your flyer so people can take what they need without decimating your supply,

I would suggest that you approach the school district and ask for permission to use their gym or an empty classroom and offer you dance class as part of an afterschool plan. If thatks not appealing to you, then you can get permission from the district to put out flyers.
