Need Nursing Tops for Breastfeeding

I'm BF my 5th baby and I've never used these tops. I like the idea and will look for them. Congratulations to you!!! BTW~ I'm 39. You'll do great!

Other places to try for the nursing tops--

craigslist
ebay
La Leche League meetings--ask the other moms where they got theirs, and/or if they have any they'd like to sell cheap
garage sales--if they have baby stuff, ask if the mom nursed and wants to sell any tops (hey, you never know!)

I have a nursing dress from Motherwear (I think?) that I still wear because it is so pretty. The baby is now 15...........so these things could be a long-term incvestment.

Also, as other moms said, you can get by without these tops depending on what you already have. I liked two piece "sweater-set" type outfits, e.g. a tee shirt under a long-sleeve shirt/sweater (button-down, left open). That way I could lift up the inner top and my side wouldn't freeze because of the longsleeve one; also people observiing from the side couldn't see we were nursing.

I personally wouldn't waste money on nursing tops! Shop Old Navy clearance sales and get loose fitting tops that you can just lift up. Or if you are more modest, look for the nursing covers like Bebe au Lait. Maybe you could find one second hand at a consignment sale or store. Another tip is to layer your clothing--esp. good during winter, spring, and fall--wear a loose tank top underneath a button-up shirt. Then just unbutton the top few buttons, pull up your tank, and you still have access and coverage at the same time. I nursed three kids and never owned a nursing top, but I do recommend like other posters finding a couple of great nursing bras. Good luck and god bless you and your new baby boy!

I loved my Target nursing tanks and wore them under everything. Ihad a Bravado one that was a nice fabric and slimming, but it was too much money. I am embarressed to admit, I still wear the Target tanks because they are so comfortable ( and I stoppe dnursing a year ago).

I agree with others about the Target nursing tanks. Definitely buy them on-line for a better color selection. I wore them 24-7 and they were great! If you get 3 or 4 and do laundry often, you're golden.

I have two children and have never owned a nursing top. I just wear tops that I can either pull down or up and dresses that I can pull down enough to nurse. I do recommend the Bravado Silky Seamless nursing bra. With my first child, I bought two and those are the only bras I have worn for the past two years. I did just buy one more with the birth of our second child. One of the old ones is just starting to wear out and I wanted a different color after two years! They are a bit expensive but last LONG time! I'd spend your money on that and not worry about nursing tops.

I love Glamourmom nursing bra tanks, but I do know some moms consider them to be expensive. I would still recommend the brand, if you sign up for their newsletter/email you'll be able to receive their special deals. I never used nursing tops.... I just wore a sports bra... under tank tops or tops.
I just lifted my shirt up or pulled down the top of my tank top.
I breastfed both my kids.

Also be sure to get some nursing pads... to wick up any seepage from your breasts.
And a nursing apron is good to get too. REAL handy.
And a "Boppy Pillow" is REAL good to get, for breastfeeding or even just for holding baby in your lap.

I shopped at expressiva.com for some nursing tops. Sometimes they have sales, I think. You might look there. I'm not sure how much they cost as I haven't looked in awhile. I used mostly long shirts with skirts, but I really liked the added coverage that the nursing tops give. Congratulations to you!

go to target. i bought all my nursing bras and tops there. they may have more online. you can also just buy some tank tops that are a lycra type that you can just pull down if needed. congrats!

This will be so cool for the 9- and 11-year-old boys.
Opportunities for them to be your helpers, AND . . .
they will have opportunities to observe loving mother-baby interactions,
which they othewise would not have been able to experience close-up.

First, Congrats!! I had my second boy days before my 41st birthday. Second, try www.freecycle.org. It is one of the Yahoo groups. You will need an account with them (that is free). The reason for the website is to keep this stuff out of the land fills. You must offer something before you ask for something.(Ex. Offer: boys clothes, size med. in Haddonfield) I will receive emails from the people that want the clothes. I will give my address to the person that I am giving it to and they come and oick it up from your front porch. Nothing on this site is sold or bought, everything is free. We have given most of the baby items (bassent, changing table, outgrown clothes, coffee maker, TV, bikes, etc..) to freecycle. I have also received a lot of clothes and toys from the site. Check it out.
