Hello, and welcome to the Greater KC area! I am the information and resource specialist for the Missouri Developmental Disabilities Resource Center, which is a part of the Institute for Human Development located at UMKC. I provide information, resource and referral to individuals with disabilities and their families all over the state of Missouri.
First, I would suggest that you give me a call (phone number is below) and let me try to set you up with a parent mentor through our "Sharing Our Strengths" program--this is a free program where we match trained mentors with other parents who may be new to the area, new to the experience of disability, or may just have a question or issue they want to discuss with someone who may share a similar experience. We do have mentor parents who are not in favor of vaccines, and can probably direct you to a vaccine neutral physician for your child or family.
Another thing I would encourage you to do is become a part of the EFECT parents support group, which includes both face-to-face meetings and an online list serv where parents of children with disabilities can share information. I know there are families on the EFECT list serv that do take theri children to pediatricians in the area who are vaccine neutral. If you become a part of this group, you can go on the list serv and ask the other parents about who uses a vaccine neutral pediatrician, and probably get some feed back on their hours, location, office staff, etc. You can find this group located at www.efect.org. Please note that it does take a couple of days to get approved for the list serv group
Please feel free to call me--I would love to provide any assistance that I can, and again, welcome to KC!
Sincerely,
J. Hatfield-Callen
