Need Loft Bed for 3-Yo

Stuart is getting too big for his crib, and can climb out anyway. His room is on the small side, so we think a loft bed would be perfect. Anyone have one they'd like to sell? I've been on Freecycle and Buy Stuff Cheap, but haven't had any luck in several months. Maybe one of you is a big garage saler? I need sturdy, and would prefer dark wood if given a choice, but will take nearly anything in good shape. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I just wanted to suggest a Captain's bed with the drawers underneath. This is want I got my son, since his room is on the smaller side too. Then we just got a nightstand that has 2 drawers.

You may also check Craigslist.com You can either post a wanted ad for the bed or look for someone who may be selling it in the area!!

I just saw some loft beds at Walmart yesterday but am unsure of the price. They looked pretty nice and had drawers underneath as space savers.

I don't have one for sale, but we bought my son's at Nebraska Furniture Mart. It is a loft bed with a slide down one side and a tent around the bottom. My son's room is very small, so it's great to keep his toy bin under there, and for him to be able to play under there. It was around $180, and worth every penny.

Wow! Talk about timing! Our plans for Saturday include taking down the loft bed - the one with the slide and the tent from Nebraska Furniture Mart that someone else mentioned - out of our 8-yr old's room. We are replacing it with a full-size bed because he moves too much at night. He's actually been sleeping on a futon for the past year, but wasn't ready to give up his "tent" under the other bed until recently.

Some of the velcro needs to be sewn back on the tent material, and the slide has lost a few screws - it hasn't been on the bed for quite a while because my son was getting too big to act as wild as he wanted to with it. He's covered one end with small stickers, and "practiced with my pocket-knife Mom" on one edge of the wood, leaving a row of little knicks. It's right on the edge where the slide goes, so it would be covered up by the slide. And it is light-colored wood, not dark. It's just like this one - except ours is red material with blue trim around the windows, and we don't have that pocket thing they show on the one picture:

I have no idea how to price it. If it was up to me, I'd give it away, but I'm sure my husband will have something to say about that. If you're interested, send me a private message, and I'm sure we can work something out. I'm up in the middle of the night with insomnia right now, but I'll ask hubby in the morning. The mattress is barely used, and has been in a plastic, zippered cover. And, if you never put the slide on, he'll never know it was supposed to have one. The slide is the part that gets tricky in a small room, because you can't move it to any other spot on the bed. So it always comes down on the left side, unless you want to drill new holes and move the side rail.

And - from experience - the slide is heavy, so if you take the slide off, make sure you do NOT store it standing up against a wall in the closet. Because if you're leaning over a box of winter clothes, trying to find warm things for a cub scout campout, it can fall and whack you right on top of your head and give you a concussion. lol

We got a cute one at Mathis Brothers. I know it's more than a garage sale, but it was still only $150. Good Luck.
