What about Dave & Busters? I just took my kids there (5,2) this past weekend and they had a blast playing the games. They have good food & drinks for the adults. I think you usually reserve a little area for the actual party.
I want to have a first birthday party for my son but need a place to have it (our house it too small). The party is really more for us than for him at this point, so I am looking for somewhere other than Gymboree, CCheese, etc.. It will be about 25 adults and 6 young children. We'd like to have alcohol and food and want it to be somewhere in Center City. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Sonam is great BYOB 223 South Street check out the web site www.sonambyob.com It is small plates global fusion. They have a great Sunday Brunch and you could serve bloody marys and mimosas. Have a great birthday
Since you didn't include what kind of budget your on the possibilities seem endless. I would try and contact a few restaurants and see if they could accommodate you and your party. Maybe if you tried for a Sunday brunch time you would have more flexibility from the the restaurant. Some places may even have a separate from available. If you are worried about that try a larger place like Maggiano's. That's what I would do. Have a nice Sunday meal with my family and friends. Then maybe walk over to the Franklin Fountain and get Ice Cream Sundaes.
Good luck I hope you have a great time.
