My sister is coming to visit me tomorrow and staying through Sunday. We both have a baby 17 months old and she has another girl about 8 yrs old. I don't have any money but need some ideas of where to take her for fun that does not cost much if anything at all around the Dallas area. We live in Wylie.

What can I do next?

Celebration Park in Allen would be fun for the kids - it's a big park with a spray park. If you think the kids would be up for the drive Fort Worth is fun - you could go to the Stockyards and walk around - they do cattle drives twice a day that the kids might like. Their zoo is also much better than the Dallas zoo. Good luck - hope you have fun!

I'm still new to the Dallas metro area, I live in Plano, but maybe there are some community pools you could go to in Wylie, I know at Oak Point in Plano, there is a nice swimming area that cost $3.00 for kids, your babies will be free and it's $6.00 for adults, it's open from 1-5:45 PM, which is plenty of time to be in the sun. Also, check out the zoo, I know last week or the week before the Dallas zoo had dollar days, where it cost a dollar to get in. Also, riding the DART, kids seem to like that and it's air condition. Walking around in Malls are fun, a lot of them have the areas where little ones can play, or going to McDonalds or places like that, get some Ice Cream and let them play for hour our so... There is also the dollar movies in Plano, sure some surrounding areas as well...I don't know all the lakes in the Dallas areas, but I'm sure a lot of them are free to go too, just have fun in the water and wear lots of sun screen.

Do you like the malls? You don't have to spend $$.

The 8 yr old might like to ice skate at Stonebriar or Galleria. Visit the American Girl store at Galleria. Visit the Square in McKinney....Herbie's Soda Fountain is fun. Celebration Park in Allen, swimming at the natatorium in Allen.

Arboretum is always nice, when we had visitors we would take them to the Science Place and the IMAX at Fair Park.

Not knowing your budget, it is hard to come up with things to do. I'm trying to suggest some things that would be economical.

I'm sure they will enjoy visiting you and spending time with your family.
