Hi moms...my husband is getting a little promotion this week...i would like to do something special for him. He doesn't want to make a big deal of it, so he says, but i think he would be hurt if i didn't do anything...any ideas? Thanks!

Treat him like a man that you are proud to be married to. Pick up some thick steaks and a bottle of wine and have a late appreciation dinner with only him.
Let him hear you bragging to his parents about his accomplishment. Since he claims he doesnt want a big deal made of it, inviting friends might be uncomfortable. Making you and your kids proud is probably all he really needs.

Definitely a nice steak dinner at home- invite his parents and yours if they are local. He's asked you not to make a "big deal" out of it... but that doesn't mean you can't make a "little deal" of it. I wouldn't invite friends b/c it may feel braggish to him, but if your spouse and parents can't brag, then who can!

I did this when my husband got a promotion... great filets, nice bottle of red wine, cheesecake (his favorite) and invited his parents over for a nice dinner. He really appreciated it, felt acknowledged, but wasn't overdone.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

How about having a few friends over or get a babysitter and take him out to dinner!?

I don't know if you have family nearby and can have a BBQ on the weekend? It's hard without knowing more information!

CONGRATS again!!!

Grandma t and Krista P have excellent ideas.

I would add that your husband would probably love to hear you bragging about his promotion to your mom and dad either in person or over the phone.

If your husband would like to have dinner with just you, that would be fine. I would that if he didn't want a bid deal out it, just invite your parents and his parents and congratulate him in front of everyone.

Congratulations to you and your husband.

I love Grandma T's response!

I think a very special dinner out w/close family and friends should do the trick. Have dinner and then give a toast to your husband. He does deserve a little recognition for his hard work.

If you can get someone to watch the kids, take him for a segway tour! I don't know, maybe cheesy, but it's fun (and something I'm dyeing to do!)
