Hi I am looking for ideas for food to have at a birthday for family for my son who will be 8. I have done tacos, lasagna, sandwiches, subway subs. I am looking for something different to have I have to feed 30 to 35 people or around there depending on who shows my was from a family of 8 brothers and sisters and usually 1 of his brothers comes and only 2 of his sisters and family. The rest don't talk to us since he died 12 years ago. But anyhow bake to the other subject I like to have good food so that people that don't see eachother very often have more time to spend together.I will get cake and ice cream of course but want something else. My little sister is very picky and a used to cater to her but not anymore.
Anyhelp would be great.
J.

If you have a medium roaster with "buffet dividers" or two medium crockpots an easy thing to do would be sloppy joes (maderites/bbq's) and party potatoes. That's something that you can do ahead of time and is easy for people to grab and go not needing to all sit down at a table together. If you need recipes, let me know at ____@____.com

Maybe you could have a pot luck with that many people where you assign like appitizers, dessert, main dishes.
I have done Taco salads, sloppy joes, ham/turkey sandwitches...its always easier but more expensive to just preorder the food :)
Have fun!!

My brother did pork sandwiches. We've only done the Subway thing. How about ordering pizza. I think I'll do that this year.

Have you thought about doing all appetizer-type stuff? Just an assortment of finger foods and maybe some salads of some type. Or I went to a bday party for my nephew and they made a lot of hot dogs and put them in a crock pot then did chili and other toppings so that the guests could make their own, I know everyone doesn't always like them but it is cheap-and for 35 people it would be easy.

Hi J.
My daughters birthday is on Valentines Day, I am taking cupcakes to school for her on wednesday and then on saturday is the party. She will be 6! She loves pizza! I am ordering a sheet pizza (huge) for her..(Just xtra cheese) and then I will also get another large or another sheet with some more of the fixings that my guests like....you can also do half and half...to please everbody!! I am In Racine, so the best place here, is Infusinos. So, she will have her pizza party and cake and ice cream!! Pizza usually goes around with not much gripe, most kids love it! I make taco dip with chips, its always a hit, and make lil grab bags for the kids. The dollar store makes it inexpensive and the kids love it. Hope this gives you some help! Happy birthday to your child! Have a good day! K.

Try BBQ pork in the crock pot. Buy a pork shoulder roast, or a "pork butt" and crock pot it with some BBQ sauce. When it's done, "pull" it, or shred it, using the tines of a fork. Makes good sandwiches on a hamburger bun, serve with cole slaw and chips.

For 30-35 people, you may have to crock pot up several roasts over several days, but it re-heats great. When I make this I freeze in zip-lock baggies a meal for 2, pull it out once a week for the next 6 weeks or more.

Do make your own Pizzas. I saw this on an episode of the berenstain Bears where brother and sister bear threw a party and to help them decide what to serve papa bear got all things needed to all the guests could make their own pizza with whatever toppings they wanted. I tried it when my 6 year lod threw her own noonyears(kiddie new years) eve party. What you do is get a type of bread called boboli, you can find it in the deli section. Get tons of shredded mozterella and jars of pizza sauce and all the other pizza fixings. my daughters guests loved it because they could put what they wanted on the pizzas. all you do it cook the pizzas untill the cheeses i melted and golden.

Hi J.,

I have had the same issue in the past, and just wanted to throw it out there for you. If about half or more of the 35 people are going to be kids, you may consider doing 2 menus, I have ordered pizza for the kids, and had a separate, adult type meal for the grown ups. At eight years old, it's tough to find an "adult" meal that the kids will also enjoy. I love Cheryl's idea for BBQ pork (and might do that myself!). I have cooked meals like steaks, rib roasts. I have also used two variations of the same dish, like making "regular" spaghetti for the kids (which most kids love), and a chicken/shrimp and tomato alfredo spaghetti for the adults (who can always have the regular spaghetti too). Two sauces and one big pile of noodles, throw in a tossed salad and some garlic bread and you're set!

Good luck with your party!

First my question is do you live by afestival foods?? Then if you do, this is soooo easy. Get a Burgundy Pepper spoon roast, and crock pot it with veggies for six hours. Then borrow another friends crck pot, and do a sweet burbon pork roast, the kids will all love it. If you crock them both for six hours you can shred part of it and get buns, then use the rest for sliced meat and veggies, make some boxed mashed potatoes and done. The meat is already seasoned, and marinated and all you have to do is remember to turn on the crock pot. Good luck!!
