FEBREEZE, Spray enough to get the areas completely wet and let dry completely. I've never had a smell not come out, even doggy pee. We have a 7 mon. old dachound mix which has been hard for us to train also. Maybe it's in the breed!
Our miniature dachshund is one-year old. She was my daughter's Christmas gift last year and she just adores her puppy. We are having a horrendous time potty training her. We have hardwood floors throughout the house, so she pees on our area rugs. She is doing much better, but still is having a problem. HOW can I get the smell out? We tried many of the products from Petco, but nothing seems to work. HELP!!!

when I have had horrible smells nothing else would take out, Solumel from Melalueca does!
i'm really going to be of no help to you but i have a similiar problem except no pets. my couch all of a sudden smells like pee and i don't know how to get it out. my soon to be younger brother in law was over the other night and he slept on the couch, the next thing i know my fiance is saying how he is smelling something gross and realized it's pee. now we don't know if he for some reason had in accident in the night(he is 18 so i wouldnt' think so) or what but we dont' want to comfront him to see. we also have a 21months old son but it seems like if he would have peed enough for it to leek out on the couch even wet spots on the thin part that covers the coils that he would have had to have soaked through his clothes and one of us would have noticed. so if you happen to find any idea on how to get the smell out of stuff please let me know so i can try it on my couch. thanks jen
Clean it first with ant kind of carpet cleaner, once it is dry sprinkel it generously with baking soda, let sit for an hour then vacuum, I use this method whenever one of our cats have an accident, and if you have ever smelled cat urine you would know it is god awful, but this method does work. Good luck.
Go to the Drycleaner and ask for live enzymes. You will need to wear gloves, but this is the only thing that I have found that works for urine stains and smells. You can also use this on a mattress if your children are potty training like the dog. :)
We raised Sphynx (hairless) cats for a number of years and have potty trained a couple of puppies so we have plenty of experience with pee! We use Odoban. You can buy it at Walmart ina spray bottle or better yet, at Sam's club in a concentrated gallon. Its an enzyme cleaner so it kills the smell and doesnt just cover it up. Excellent product!
You MUST get Demolish! It is the best product for protein stains like vomit, urine or blood. The only place I know to get it is at my Vet's office, Cat's on Broadway. It actually nutralizes the enzymes and removes the odor so it doesn't just cover it up.
Have you tried kennel training her? Sometimes this helps if you can stand the noise for a few days! Unfortunately our dog (Boston terrier) went completely against this and peed in the kennel, on his dog bed, my bed, but never peed on the one carpet in the house! Weird little dog he is. But, he did pee on the couch once while potty training and we got the smell out with LOTS of Febreze, after soaking it in upholstery cleaner first, rinsing with hot water, and blotting dry. I love dogs but they are a pain in the behind some days! You could try renting a steam cleaner and cleaning all the rugs at the same time. Try confining the dog to one area of the house with baby gates (kitchen if there is no carpet in it) and at least when you are not home the dog can only go in one spot that is easy to clean. Also, the way we got our dog to start going outside was every time he peed/pooped in the house we would take the papertowel that we mopped/picked the accident up with outside and set it in the same area so he gradually realised that that was where we wanted him to go, and he did. She should get it if you stay consistent, and whatever you do, DONT rub her nose in it! Apparently the urine smell gets on their fur/skin and thats all they can smell and they think that because they smell it when sniffing for a spot to go potty that that is a good place to go! Anyway, I hope some of this helps and Good Luck!

We just got a new male kitten, so our older male cat has taken to "marking" his territory. We just got him fixed, so that will take care of some of it (we have a female, as well), but for the cleaning, all I've found that works is baking soda.
I use general stain-removing carpet cleaner, vacuum, then lay in the baking soda. (after the kids are in bed to avoid the "snow" factor) :P After that, just vacuum and most of the smell is gone. I also have an air purifier that takes out odors/allergens/bacteria from the air and that works WONDERS. I can run just the purifier to get the scent out of the air if I have guests coming over and no time to do the whole shebang and it works great, but baking soda is the only thing I've found that takes care of it all. Plus, its' cheap! :D
If you're interested in looking into an air purifier for health/odor reasons, let me know and I'll send you the email for the lady I went through. The company is great. :) Hope this helps!
I have found that the best thing for pet stains is really good old 409 the amonia takes the smell. I use it on all my rugs when my mom brings her not so potty trained dog to my house. Also try the doggy pads they sell at the pet stores they look like big diapers you lay them on the floor where they ususally pee and they absorb the urine so it doesnt go in your carpet.

I am a Veterinary Technician and own a cat but entertain my sister's dog from time to time at my house. He has raised his leg around my house but never in the same spot. I use Woolite carpet and upholstery cleaner Pet Stain and odor remover + oxygen spray. So far this has helped and makes odors disappear. I got this at Walmart. I surfed the web for you by typing in urine out. It brought up all kinds of products. Hard to know which to use. I would call you veterinarian and ask them what they recommend and ask for help in potty training or go to your library and look for a good potty training for pets book. It takes alot of consistancy among the family all doing the same things as far as training, disapline, etc. which can be difficult but if you all do the same thing with your dog, it will become easier to train her. good luck! hope my advice helps.
