Need Help with Sweet 16 Party

M., it would be easier to offer advice if we knew the state you live in and in sorta what part of that state?

For some reason, I don't see my answer - but I recommended a luau (DOLLAR TREE has decorations, etc.) or a "dress up" Mystery Dinner, then after the formal part, they would all change clothes and have a bonfire or something similar after the "dinner". How about taking a few special friends and her to get a pedicure and manicure, then out to lunch at her favorite restaurant.I think that would be a great hit what 16 year old wouldnt want to be pampered.Good luck and have fun !

hi...i have a girl and boy the same ages as yours! My daughter turned 16 in November, and I rented a pavilion at Pompano Beach (Atlantic). We made sure we were there for sunset, and after dark....and there are BBQ grills there too. My daughter loves the beach and has lots of friends, and this was a boy/girl party. The kids had a blast, but there were a few things that could have been better planned...first of all, check about sea turtle nesting season, because they don't allow lights on the beach at certain times of the year. Even if they do, there is no electricity....we had tiki torches but they would not stay lit because of the sea breeze!! So battery-powered lighting is essential. Also, kids love bonfires but they are illegal on many beaches... see if you can find a beach that allows them. Actually Barnes and Noble sells a book on FL beaches and parks that lists such things. Lastly, one lesson i learned was don't try to do this yourself!! Get other adults to help you.

Publix bakery makes pretty sweet 16 cakes....we got a brownie cake since my dd is a chocoholic! I also had a friend who took her daughter and a friend on a cruise; if you can afford to do that for the weekend it's another option. Let me know if you are interested in a party planner, because i have a friend who does that. She can also help you come up with some good ideas.

I've noticed that today's generation like themed parties. I went to one 15's that the theme was Moroccan and the birthday girl did a belly dancing routine with her teacher. It was beautiful. The Moroccan culture has beautiful bold colors that would go great for any party.

You could also go completely themed out and do a 50's, 60's 70's or even 80's bash and have everyone come dressed in the era.

If you are doing it at your home. I highly recommend linens for your tables because its a great added decor.

If they are "into" boys, a coed party with pizza and soft drinks may be a hit.
I always celebrated "Golden Birthdays" on the date of that birthday that you reach the age; and just decorated with everything gold, including the food and cake!!!

what about a mary kay party have the girlsget together and do make up on each other and find the right colors for their skin tone. if you know any mary kay consultants.

or their are places you go for make overs for girls.thant might be fun for her and a few freinds.

I own an indoor playground in Palm Coast, FL. We offer overnight sleepover parties at our facility, where we turn on blacklights, play music, have manis & pedis, etc. If a sleepover is not what you want, we would also do a private "dance" where we turn off the lights, put on the blacklights, clear a dance floor, etc. Plus we have a party room where we set up refreshments, etc.

Is there a place near you that might do this also? Just a thought.

If it is a girls only party, how about a day of pampering. You might be able to work something out with a local nail salon to get a discount. Give the girls a choice of pedi or mani to also keep costs down. Before or after the salon you could have things set up at your house like fondue, chocolate & fruit, cheese & veggies. You could also give them ginger ale or punch in "champagne glasses" to make them feel special & grown up.

My friend and I are planning her daughter's sweet 16 party now and so far we have planned beauty time for the day b4 the party(we are doing facials on the young ladies)to teach them how to care for their face and to apply make up since they already wear it, we also have planned a very nice candle light dinner that will include boys ( we will be setting up the room like a ballroom with a dance floor and a space for her friends to take pictures and leave message and notes for her. I know this may sound like alot but you only turn 16 once and she's an only child so that's why we are starting now. I hope some of our ideas appeal to you and that your daughter enjoys her day. If I think of anything else I'll write back.

When we lived out of state, we had a fully finished basement that had a pool table and a huge area. My husband DJ's and he taught my daughter how to do it, and when the party day came, we had tons of people there. Some played pool, others danced and we held dance and singing and limbo contests. Prizes were I Tunes cards, and misc. gift cards. We took videos of the party and placed it on you tube and sent all the guests invites. We made the videos private, so not just anyone could see them.

If you have a big dance area in your home, you can hire a DJ, or one to do his/her thing poolside. If not, you can go to maybe a center where you can rent a room, maybe a local hotel has a small meeting room for a reasonable price to hold your party?

If you don't want a DJ, a playlist or I tunes list can easily be put on shuffle and hooked up to speakers. You can maybe rent a mic that hooks up into a speaker or borrow one from a friend to do the DJing yourself or have your daughter's best friends do it for you! :D

You can ask friends and family to supervise. We sent wristbands that we made with the invites so there were no drug and alcohol house party crashers and we had a "door man" that checked wrist bands and pupils alike. The kids had a blast and a very memorable time. A couple of kids spent the night afterward playing guitar hero and american idol on the playstation 3 into the wee hours with us!

Hello, I can highly recomend you Butterfly Dreams, all types of theme parties for all ages and a friend had a spa party for your daughters age group and it was really nice, they all got to wear there robes, headbands and got there manicure, pedicures, mini facials while listening to Spa music, then they made there own sea salts jars to bring home, all the girls were all excitted about the party they went too.
