Need Help with Storage of Children's Book's

Does anyone have any ideas for storing kid's books? We have many of them and they are all different sizes (everything from small board books to large picture books). Bookshelves work for some of them, and I have some in some small canvas storage containers, but we have many, many more. We seem to read the same books over and over because they are in boxes in the basement (haven't made it out since moving) and I'd like to have them be more accessible.

What can I do next?

We got a bigger bookshelf. :) I put only the holiday ones away with each holiday decoration, so they are new and exciting each year.
Our bookshelf is rather big, but it's better than trying to rotate (I did that for a few years also. It did not go over well at all--we got stuck with the same books for a year or so).
My son is reading to himself now, so those are kept in an area where he can get them easily (yes the canvas box in the corner of the living room remains!)

take the books you read a lot and are bored with and the ones you don't like to a place to sell them. Use some of the money to buy more storage (you can get cheep big ones at odd lots) or to buy some new toys or new books...but it sounds like you have plenty of those. Milk crates work too, they transport easy, but don't stack well, so you may want to consider that too.

Hi J. - look up children's preschool furniture online and look for the large book carousels that are sold. Some of them hold a ton of books and it's nice for the kids to be able to view their entire library and make a choice. Unknown to many, Oriental Trading sells school furniture really reasonably. Good luck!

Pottery Barn kids just (finally) made book-shaped, handled totes that say "books". They can keep their favorites in a mobile, compact place and store the rest in a bookshelf maybe hidden in the closet. I bought their giant round canvas one and wish I had waited for one that held books more neatly!

Other than a book shelf, sounds like you need to go through them and donate a lot of them. My kids have a two shelf bookshelf. I go through the books atleast once a year and the ones that they don't read hardly or that are too young for them go to charity.
