I struggled a lot with milk supply (pumping exclusively, baby in NICU). If your baby is only a few weeks old you will probably have an easier time than later. But here is the info I got from the nursing specialist (an MD). Foods that help: extra protein, almonds, oatmeal, barley, sesame seeds. Herbs: Fenugreek (up to 9 capsules per day), Blessed Thistle (up to 3 capsules, 4X a day). Medication by prescription: Domperidone (I used this and it helped a lot). You can also see about a nursing supplementer. Using the supplementer the baby can "nurse" and get formula through a tube taped to your breast. That was one thing I didn't try that might have helped. If you are pumping only then many short session are better than fewer longer ones.

One more "fun" thing is making lactation cookies. You can google and get a recipe but basically chocolate chip oatmeal cookies with extra flax seed and brewers yeast added.

I haven't heard of this, I actually thought you misspelled relocating.

How old is dd?

My understanding is that the more the child nurses ( provided the latch is correct and mom's health/diet is good, no drugs) then the more milk the mom will make,

Mom needs to eat healthy food and drink lots of water. If it hurts to nurse or baby is frustrated it might be she is sucking on the nipple wrong. sometimes newborns do that and you have to sort of shove more of your breast in her mouth, My hospital had a lactation consultant that you could go see for free and she would help you with comfortable positons and the right way for the baby to latch on. At the very least calling the Le Leche league and askign for someone to come watch you nurse and see if they have any suggestions as to why your milk isn't in might help.

Have you tried massaging your breast and trying to express milk by hand, We had cows growing up so milking them was no big thing and essentially you can get milk out of your own breast like that, Or borrow, rent a breast pump to see how much you are actually making. If you can get anything out, i would guess you are fine.

If you are supplimenting with formula, then dd might not be sucking enough for you to make milk.

With out more info that is all i can suggest.
It really is best.

what sort of drops????

Putting your baby to the breast as much as needed or as much you can and having her suck will bring the milk. Nettle tea and Red Raspberry Leaf tea will also help with this, not the bags the whole tea seeped in boiled water for about 20 mins. Nettle is strong and bitter but it works wonders. You can use lots of honey in it. Get it at the health grocery store.
But the sucking is imperative to help the milk come in and also no worries, relax. Being up-set or nervous or stressed about this or anything around you can stop the milk flow. This happened to me once, I was under more stress than I realized in a certain situation and I became engorged and it was awful. Once the situation cleared and my stress left, the milk suddendly squirted out through nursing pads, bra, nightgown and robe about two feet in the air in front of me, could hardly believe my eyes. I laughed big with relief.
The very best to you and sweet baby and please don't worry it'll be fine, let it happen. Remember to let nature work, this is all perfectly natural and in it's perfect order, just let it happen. Hold her and sing soft, sweet melodies and let the world go by, it's all okay.

Here's info from Kellymom.com

http://kellymom.com/?s=relactation

That links to several articles on relacation (including info for moms who adopted but want to nurse infants, but the same principle applies). There's also an article on weaning from supplements if that's also what you need to do.

Have you tried herbs yet? Fenugreek and More Milk Plus worked really well for me. With my first baby I wasted so much time pumping and making formula bottles when I could have gotten my milk to come in with herbs. 3rd baby was so much easier because of the herbs. I wanted to nurse my 3rd until she was 2 (for medical reasons) and even when my hormones started to lower my milk supply, an increased dose of the herbs brought the milk supply right back up. Good luck!

Use a Supplemental Nursing System (http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/products/51/suppleme.... Fill the bottle with formula initially, tape the tubes to your nipple/breast and let the baby nurse. It worked well for me when my milk supply was very low and my daughter was 2 months old and only at birthweight. By 3 1/2 months she was plump and exclusively breastfeeding again. Best wishes! Breastfeeding is worth the effort. Nurse Midwife Mom of 3

Lucky you are in Austin and the lactation consultiants should be at your call in seconds! Here it was not so easy for me. With my second child I made very little but I credit it too MOTHERS MILK TEA. I love tea and would drink this as much as I could. It made an ounce at a time for up to two weeks. Which was HUGE DEAL for me and like gold. I felt like I won the lotto with that one ounce every two hours.
