So thank you guys so much for your help yes i want her party to be not so small. Her baby shower wasnt that big so i would like to make a bigger deal out of this birthday beside i have a step son and my husband is now saying he wants to have joined parties for them every year seeing that there birthdays are 8 days apart so this may be her only birthday alone. my house is to small that is why i was thinking about a post or hall or something and i live in boston by the zoo

Energized athletics in watertown, ma was great place for a party-especially if some older kids are going to be present. It was $125 for 1 1/2 of play and 30 min for cake and presents. And they set up everything and clean up. You can check it out one day by going to their open play times. I think it's tues/thurs from 10-12.

Congrats on being a mom for a year!

First the question is how big is it going to be. Who are the primary people coming - adults or kids. Really the first birthday is more for the parents and grandparents than for the child so try and keep that in mind. I would also suggest scheduling around her nap. Some kids at 1 year are still on 2 naps and some are on 1 nap so I would wait til closer to the event before selecting a time. You don't need a meltdown because it's nap time when you are trying to sing happy birthday. I don't know where you live so I will tell you a few places I know of.

As for places -
Together in Motion in Arlington has a nice big open room for kids to play in, romp around and crawl.

Chucky Cheese in Arlington or Cambridge - I forget which.

Or just a nice restaurant to have a lunch. Some restaurants you can rent a room and have a private party in - which might be your easiest option.

Good luck,
L. M

I guess it depends what you're looking for in a party. My son will be turning 1 in October and he's my first so I'm sort of going through the same thing. My husband and I are thinking of doing a brunch thing with just the family. Some places we are tinkering with is Stockyard (Brighton) and Legal's Seafood (Chestnut Hill). We like both places because of the ample free parking and they can also give you a room in the back so your party isn't so open to the whole restaurant to see. Not sure what exactly you are looking for, but this is what we're doing. If you tell us what you're looking for I might be able to come up with something better.

Have you considered having it at home? I never thought our teeny 900sf condo was up to the challenge but we managed to comfortably host 25 adults and 6 kids. We kept it to family and close friends. It depends how big you want the party to be. Together in Motion in Arlington does birthdays.
