Need Help with Crib Tent Information

Ok, Here's the deal...I asked a couple of days ago about suggestions for keeping my 18mo old in bed and got a lot of recommendations for a crib tent. I actually went out and bought one yesterday afternoon, but the brand that Babies R Us carried doesn't fit my crib. We have one of those cribs that is supposed to "grow" with your child and turn into a full size bed when the child is ready. Basically when you are looking at it, the back side is about 12 inches higher than the rest of the bed. (The back part of the crib is supposed to be the headboard, and the front part of the bed turns into the footboard. So, the crib tent that I bought is supposed to fit over the rails of a normal looking crib. There was no way for me to secure the tent to my kind of crib. Also, since my rails are a little more decorative and thicker, the velcro straps were not long enough to secure the tent to my bed. Does this make sense? So, what I am asking...Are there any different styles or versions of a crib tent that would fit my needs? I looked a little online, but things were all looking the same to me. If I can't find one, I will just have to move him to a toddler bed. He actually seemed excited about the crib tent though when I was trying it out yesterday. Bummer. It looked like a great solution.

What can I do next?

My son's crib sounds similar to yours, the back is a little higher than the front. My husband got it to work. He was able to put both the ends of the tent on the back, and I think just one on the front, it works fine without all 4 on all the corners. If you would like me to take a picture & email it to you to see it better, please let me know.

We have a sleigh bed style convertible bed too, with the back higher than the front. To buy us a little more time with my first daughter we turned the crib around, so the low side that was supposed to be in front, was actually towards the wall, and the high side was towards the front. She couldn't climb the back because it was too tall, and a wall was against the short side. It wasn't too tall for us to put her in, just too tall for her to climb out. I couldn't find a crib tent to work with the convertible cribs when I was looking either. :(

go out and buy some velcro the kind you would use to sew onto something to hold something onto it..like strips of it.. that has both sides. then, cut pieces that you need to fit around your crib top.. attache the pieces to the other stuff that is too short to fit around yours.. or just sew longer piecs on yourself. hand stitch if you have to.

other than that if it's something else along with the rails being too wide for the velcro to fit around, then i have nothin..lol sorry;-) so far.
that's all i can think of..

Personally, the tent will be fun for him for awhile (a few days) then he'll figure out how to undo it and get out anyway. He is plenty old enough to be in a bed. Our kids first birthday present (if they were walking) was to be put in a big kid bed. Most went to a twin bed not a toddler bed. I only had 3 out of 9 use a toddler bed. It's obvious your child can climb so getting in and out of bed won't be a problem for him. So, go ahead, convert that crib! God's Blessings.

I have the same type of crib. You should be able to lower the part that holds the matress. I have had to do that twice now as my son gets taller. It's juat high enough then that they can't get out. Let me know if it works! Hope I could help.
