Need Help to Keep All My Online Usernames and Passwords All Together

I was just wondering how some other women keep track of all their online billing things. I try to use the same username for all my accounts, but some only take email addresses. And do you keep it in a separate email folder? Please help! I am starting to feel overwhelmed w/ this new age of paying bills online. I like it, but how do you keep it all organized?
I was thinking of just making a list and putting the bill name, then the website to pay it, and then the username and then the password.
But then where do i put it all so it is safe?
Please, any advice would be great!
Thanks!

What I do is I have all my bill saved in my favorites in a folder "my bill" I give them all the same password and the user name is my email without ____@____.com or if it requires my email then I use that. It makes things easy. It has worked for me for years hope this helps.

My computer sits next to a tall bookshelf that is filled with about 100 books. To keep track of my usernames and passwords, I write them on a piece of paper, and then tape them to the inside back cover of one of the books. You could also make a dummy list and keep it in plain sight, in case anyone ever breaks in....you could keep them busy for a LONG time if they sat down and tried to enter that info.

I also do not list the exact bank name, credit card company, etc. I write "Checking" or "Money Market" "401K"... I know which companies I use.

I keep all of the passwords and usernames in separate folders in the email section. When I need the info, I just click on the folder and there it is. I hope this works for you. However, I'm open for a better solution.

first of all never keep a copy of your usernames and passwords in a file on the computer. I like the idea of keeping them in a notebook, and storing that in a secure place.

If you have an account with Chase you can pay a good number of credit card and other bills right on their website.

We have a small address book that we keep all our online passwords, user names, security questions/answers etc. We keep this book in a secured location just in case it gets in the wrong hands.

Great question!

Depending on the type of cell phone you have that might be an option. Many smartphones have a notepad or task list type function. The blackberry even has a password keeper application. Anyway, it's an electronic notebook in your cell phone that you can write anything Make it password protected to view it. That way you only have to remember that password.

Actually, the latest recommendation is to have one password for your banking needs, one for stuff--like this site, and one password for shopping sites. This way they are easier to remember. You should change them every 30 days but no more than 6 months. Change all of the same group at the same time. And like others have said, never leave it on your computer. If you do write it down, even in a book that appears nondescript, it can be ransacked and stolen. You should keep the written passwords and usernames in a locked box as you would any docs like birth certificates.

Great question. I would like to add to it. Sorry I can't answer yours though. I am overwhelmed too. My question is... I know we are supposed to change them frequently too. How many people really do that? I have the same password for everything and it seems crazy because if someone gets ahold of my email address and knows my typical password they can get into so many things. I agree! I like it but it is tough to keep track :)

Keep a list of your passwords on your computer or in a notebook...here's a trick to keeping them secure...use codeword(s) for the password. For example, let's say you use your address number, plus a word, like your favorite food, so your password might be 1234pasta. Write down "housefood" on your list. If someone should get a hold of your list, they still won't be able to figure out your passwords, but you'll remember them. You'd be surprised how many different passwords you can remember when you use this trick. Hope this helps! You can do something similar with Usernames.
