I think you are doing the right things, he needs solids, maybe not introduce solids so slowly. How much formula is he eating at each feeding. My little boy at six month was eating cereal, a veggie, fruit and was starting to have a meat introduced and he ate 8 ozs about every 4 to 4 1/2 hours. Watch for his guide, if he is hungry feed him.

Your 6mo old son is just hungry. Give him cereal and fruits and veggies. He could just be going thru a growing spurt. However, many times, children are hungry alot sooner than 6 mos.

Good luck

How do you know he is not getting full off the formula? The peds that I have gone to said that no food should be started until 11 months. No milk until 12 months. Check with your pediatrician first. He may have you start on rice cereal.

Keep him on the formula. You can feed him cereal twice a day--use formula to mix it, not water. after four days of rice, try oatmeal once a day and rice, if no reactions, then try barley. They can have up 1/2 cup cereal at each serving. That will help him get full. then, introduce veggies one at a time, orange, then green then orange. after five veggies, then start with fruit. Only introduce one new thing every four days. don't be TOO slow introducing food (waitng more than a week each time), or he could turn into a picky/non- eater. and get that Super Baby Food book! The Dr. Sear's Complete Family Nutrition Book is Excellent too. Check the library.

You can not give him cow's milk at this point, he needs the nutrient's in formula and soy is usually more filling. Feed him more, as long as he's hungry, feed him.

he is probably also wanting some "solids" try veggies and fruit, baby food, stage 1. If you are worried about trying, mix in with the baby cereal.

Nooooo! I'm no doctor, but everything I've read and learned from my own doctor warns against cows milk being used too early. When you say he's not getting full, what do you mean? How many ounces is he getting at each feeding? How often? My daughter took a bottle every three hours--sometimes even closer to 2.5! Cereal and "firsts" foods are a good way too go, but I really think cows milk shouldn't be started until closer to 1 yr. Could you be confusing hunger for something else? Good luck!

You don't want to start cow's milk now, he's too young, but there's no reason he can't have more cereal. Don't wait for the veggies and fruits...give those too! If he's hungry, feed him

Hi

I just wanted to tell you about the book Super Baby Foods by Ruth Yaron. It's an awesome book and has helped me a lot. There is a guide by age and food item about what food for what age. There's also lots of other great ideas. It was recommended to me from a friend and I highly pass it on.
