Good luck!
My 2 year daugher started preschool 3 months ago. and for sure her cold/allergies came with this schedule. I know once the kid starts school, she will get the germs. It is runny nose, cough, congestion. She gets this cycle every 2-3 weeks. We got her allergies checked, she is not allergic to dairy products.
I hate giving her OTC meds. Are there any herbal or home remedies you recommend to help her ease and fix this problem.

I highly recommend Elderberry supplement. It strengthens the immune system naturally, no side effects. You can find it at any health food store such as Whole Foods. Give her a tsp a day and if she does get sick double the dose for a few days. My daughter started pre-k also and has only come down with a slight cold despite others being sick.
Zicam works great for our kids.It is Zinc. It helps prevent them from getting sick and if they do get sick it shortens the duration.We buy the spray kind. Just spray once or twice in their mouths and thats it. It works great for us.
Good Luck,

Hi S.,
I totally understand not wanting to give her OTC meds, but please check with your Dr. before giving her anything herbal, as they can be dangerous, too.
Dear S.;
I heard in a radio program that having a humidifier with vicks vapo rub will help her with cough or congestion. Even rubbing vicks vapo in her fee before going to bed. Also I raised four children and I used to run the very hot steam bath in the shower and sit with your daughter to clear up her chest with congestions. Driking lot of Vitamin C and water will help also, and the most important one is dress her warm according to the weather together with hat to cover up her head especially going to school in the morning on winter time, people get sick all the time. But my experienced, I used to drink cayenne pepper capsules from Lindberg Store and I don't get any flu at all during winter time.

you might want to consult ane ent. dr. nina yoshpe is in torrance and long beach is awesome!
My daughter, who is now 5 yrs old & in the Kindergarten, had that same problem in preschool.
In addition to runny nose, cough , & congestion, she got frequent fevers.
I found out she was allergic to wheat.
Your child may not be allergic to wheat (bread, crackers, pancakes, etc.) or Gluten (a wheat substance), but if you take her off these products for 1 week, you can see if her health improves.
Hi there S.. first of all i want to know if u are an indian ? then i can give u stuff to see if u can help your daughter.

If her symptoms persist as she gets older and you suspect it may be allergies on some level you HAVE to try Neilmed Nose Wash. It has been a God send for my Husband and 9 year old daughter. Throughout the 9 years of my daughter's life, I would say most of it has been spent with a stuffy nose. I finally got her regular DR to send her to the ENT and he swears by it too! My husband had horrible sinus headaches daily and has been using it for 8 months now with huge success. My daughter is enjoying being able to breath through her nose finally! We believe it is allergies in her case as I see what comes out as she washes. Also, she has enlarged adnoids. Overall, sadly once they start school they are sick ALOT! I remember my son getting better for a week and then sick the next. The more I think about he is still like that now during cold season (at age 7!!) Guess certain kids are more susceptible. Good Luck! Oh yea, do not use Dimetapp. Guess they say it is no longer ideal for kids. Too bad that is what my DR recommended all of my daughter's life! You just never know!
