My 4month old goes to sleep Great at night anywhere between 8:30-9:30pm. However refuses to take a nap during the day. I'm lucky to get a hour out of her. She sleeps fine if she is being held but as soon as you lay her down not even ten minutes afterwards she is awake. Come evening time she is sooooo tired and fussy. Please help!

What can I do next?

eek. try the swing. we have the fisher price cradle papasan. my 4 month old is a great napper so we don't have to use it for him but w other kids when they were fussy we always used a swing :-)

Maybe try using a sling, that way you're still "holding" her, but you can still do other things that you need to get done as well.

My DD never napped more than 30 minutes on her own until she was 6 months old... The only way I could get a decent nap out of her was to put her in her bouncy seat and keep her moving. (we didn't have a swing, so that would probably work too...) Even if she was dead asleep, she would wake up when I quit bouncing her.

I have the same problem with my two month old. I think she is a little colic. My baby won't sleep for more than 15 minutes at a time even though she is tired. I have tried everything. I hope they both outgrow it soon! If you find a solution let me know :)

We had to sleep train my daughter at 4 1/2 months to get her to take any kind of decent nap.....and as we all know naps are critical to a child's development (and to mom's sanity!). At this age she should be taking 3 naps (lasting at least 1 hour) each day- on top of sleeping apprx. 12 hours at night.
I'd recommend you try The Sleepeasy Solution by Jennifer Waldburger. It's an excellent sleep resource to have and a quick read. Try your local library and see if it's available. Sleep training isn't fun but once they "get it" and are on a schedule they're a lot happier and so are we! Good luck!!
