Check out the groecrygame.com they list the coupons/deals of ALL grocers in your area and you can print them out. I will be honest though, I think it would be considered cheating.
So, one of our admins "leaked" the info to me today that this afternoon our office will be having a contest for charity. We will be split into teams and given a gift card (unknown amount) and sent to the various local grocery stores (each team gets assigned to a different store). The challenge is to buy as much food as you can with they money you are given. The team that gets the most food (and QUALITY COUNTS) wins.... and we are a sales office full of very competitive people, so we all want to win!!! We will then donate ALL of the food to charity.
I have the inside info on this and want to prepare in advance!!! What should I do? Is there somewhere online I can go to download coupons right now? Whats your best grocery shopping advice so we can win AND get the most and best possible items for the charity? I have 2 hours to prepare!
Dont worry - the cheating only results in bragging rights AND LOTS OF FOOD FOR CHARITY. Thanks!!! :0)

Look at your closest grocery store's online site. You may have to sign up and log in but there will be coupons and their circular. Go for it!
this sounds like sooo much fun!!! I am about 45 miles away from you!! Ohh man!! if I didn't have plans already today - I would drive over with my coupons to help you out!!!
How to get the most ???
canned goods...using coupons...
condiments....
meat department (prepackaged chicken)
dairy department - butter, sour cream, milk, cheese!!
bread...peanut butter, jelly!
if frozen food is acceptable - there are some things you can get there!!
HAVE FUN!!!
Pick up the ads at the front of the store. Take a few minutes to talk about what the best plan is.
Store brands. Most store brands are close if not the same as the 'Brand names'. There are some things that I don't do that on - mac n cheese (Kraft or Velveeta), ketchup (Heinz)
Avoid perishables - cheese, yogurt, frozen, meat, etc.
Avoid frozen foods
Avoid paper products
Avoid breads
Think canned veggies, dry beans, pasta, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, low-sugar cereals (Cheerios, Fiber One, Special K). Generic bagged cereals are usually more money friendly then box cereals.
Have fun!
If you don't have time for coupon clipping & scanning at the register, I
would just buy all store brand items like canned goods, tortillas, bread
etc.
Think staples AND non-perishables. have fun & good luck.
Post how it went in So What Happened.
Do you think that is right?
Are there no rules?
I am offended by this post.
D.
Is there an Aldi near by? I'd start there. Focus on bags of rice, dried beans and lentils, and raw ingredients like flour and sugar. Buy store brands. Are frozen foods and perishables permitted? Large bags of frozen veggies are much more economical than canned. Raw potatoes over frozen french fries. The more raw, generally the cheaper. Sounds fun!
