Before the divorce, I was a sahm, and that was my career until the baby went to school- well that is all over now. I wonder where I can get some info for help figuring out a future for me, as I cannot keep this retail going to sustain me for my futue. I am lost and don't know what to do- I do not have it in my to stay at home and do a job that way, I am not a sales person. I wonder if there is anywhere to seek maybe even government help - anything to get me started on a path.

What can I do next?

My advice is to do something in health care. Xray tech, ultra sound tech, pharmacy tech, nursing etc.. It is a hard road , but it will pay off in the end. You will always have a job, and be in demand. Check the community colleges for programs. You may have to take out loans, but it is worth it in the end.

Hi K.. I too, am a SAHM. I'm sorry to hear about your divorce. I can't imagine what a difficult time this must be to have to return to work, especially if you're not ready or wanting to yet. I work part-time from home for Arbonne International. Are you familiar with our Health and Wellness products? We have everything from baby care to aromatherapy to cosmetics to nutrition to weight loss. There's truly something for everyone. I have never, ever been a salesperson in my life, so believe me, I know exactly what you mean! However, I found that I absolutely love and believe in these products so much, that I have no problem referring people to the various product lines we have. I know it's cliche to say this, but the products do truly sell themselves! I've been doing this business for a year now, and absolutely love it! If you are interested in learning a bit more about Arbonne, our products and business opportunity, please feel welcome to check out my website at: www.mandyolsen.myarbonne.com or www.arbonne.com. You can also reach me for questions at: ____@____.com or ###-###-####. I'd love to meet your for coffee or lunch to chat more. Good luck with everything!
Take care,

I would suggest taking a personality test. Most colleges offer them to help people find a career they are good at, it might be worth your time, you could even find one online. I really admire you for making it this far, you are hardworking and caring, so some good points to keep in mind. Try going to an employment agency. They find a job that fits your high points. Good luck to you and your children.

Hi K., I kow what your going thru cause I was there aswell after my first divorce...I to was a SAHM then went into retail...But with the schedule it was awful cause your having to work nights and weekends which leaves no life for the kids. I completely understand. Have you tried applying at a temp agency? They generally start off with good pay and you can start off as a recp't then work your way up? They will ask if you have computer skills or even the basic and they can help you find a job. I know it may seem small at first but this will help you get your foot in the door of a company and you can go from there. I know this cause I've had to this before and it long and sometimes the pay is good and others its ok but look at it this way, you get to be at home with the kids at nights and on weekends. In the end it will be worth it, good luck in changing careers but if I can do it then so can you...=)

It depends what you are interested in doing. Do you like working with people, what kind of hours. Do you mind being self employed? Do you like repetition or adventure, those kinds of things. Have you tried to pray about it...if you do God will give you the desires of your heart meaning you will desire what He desires for you. Look on monster.com and see what kind of administrative jobs etc. are available. Hope things work out for you :)
