If you are looking to buy "the best," you want Stride Rite. If you are satisfied with "good" and don't want to pay a lot for shoes that are outgrown quickly (like me), Payless and Wal-mart have a good selection and are inexpensive.
I have a problem. I am clueless when it comes to buying my 14 month old daughter shoes. She just started walking last week and although I used to just let her go barefoot since it's been so hot, this is no longer ok with her wanting down to walk on hot concrete and in stores. Where is the best place to find a variety (tennis shoes, sandals, water shoes, etc) of shoes?? And what shoes did you find the most comfortable for your little ones???

Stride Rite.
They carry anthing from early walker shoes, mary janes, swim shoes, little hiker boots.
There is a Stride Rite outlet at Katy Mills Mall. There prices are a little cheaper than a regular store. But depending where you live and the cost of gas,a regular price store might be better.
Also,Nordstroms (at the Galleria has a good kids shoe area)
Hi S.,
When my boys were little I took them to stride rite. As far as Im concerned it is the best store for little ones that age.
To be honest, when my son was little I only bought shoes at walmart. They actually have a pretty good selection. In Fact the selection is better for girls I think.
Since they grow out of the shoes so fast at that age there is no sense spending all kinds of money!
since she just started walking you want to make sure that you buy something with a real flexible sole, other than that any style will do!
