Hi my pain is right at the vaginal area and I am only 7 months pregnant! Oh I can't stand it when I sit too long. Every time I get up, Braxton Hicks hits me and my legs starts shaking from the pain coming right below the vaginal area. I started going to YMCA about 3 days ago and I do 20-30 minute slight walk at the treadmill there. That seemed to helped a little.

Sunshine, congrats on the pregnancy!
I feel your pain literally. This is my 3rd pregnancy, I am due anyday, and I have pelvic and back pain almost constantly. My first pregnancy, only occasionally would I feel pain there, it's usually when the baby lies on nerve, or your ligaments are stretching and you happen to move just the right way. It can hurt for a few seconds or a few hours and usually goes away.
My second and third pregnancies, the ligaments are so loose from having been stretched the first time, I hurt all the time pretty much from month 5 on.
But sometimes it hurts so bad so suddenly, I swear my leg popped out of the socket, and I have to stop what I am doing, give my hips a rest, and hope the baby moves off the nerve or whatever is going on. And I am still fairly young and very fit from being an athlete, and not real heavy even with being fully ready to give birth. Pregnancy is not easy for some :), especially after the first time.
Your ligaments might still stay loose for a while after the baby is born so be careful. I threw my lower back out by trying to start surfing too early after my second was born.
BTW, chiropractic has been very helpful for pain relief for me during this pregnancy. If your pain lasts, go get an adjustment, you will be happy you did. I go once every week or two and it makes a huge difference for me.

your baby is growing faster than your ligaments and tendons can adjust, plus now it'll start giving you some flexibility for the bones to move during childbith. rest more, eat more proteins.
Good Luck on Delivery!

Hi Sunshine,
I still remember how it felt during my pregnancy too. I already had lost one baby at 20 weeks after six years of trying. Then with the second pregnancy, I could hardly walk at five months. I was in constant pain, throbbing, pain lasts longer some days and some days I can tolerate it. Then there are days I just cry tears while my poor husband tries to be the best nanny and nurse...found out that my pregnancy was so low, baby was heavy, and with his weight, fractured my pelvic bone. I struggled with the delivery because every pressure to push kept separating my pelvic bone further worse. We had two more after that event but the thought of it just scares me still. They are all premature due to the fist child and my pelvic bone.

There only one thing to do...seek your family practice specialist. It sounds serious. I have the same problem and when I consulted with the specialist, x-rays, etc., it was my pelvic bone that was still separated from delivering our now 15 year old son. It comes and go, and sometimes I can hardly walk from the pain so I stop the long walks exercise and bed rest...it may be something else but then who knows :) Don't wait too long...

It sounds like symphasis pubis dysfunction. You can Google it to see what it is. Go to a chiropractor who specializes in working with pregnant women. You'll find that an adjustment makes a BIG difference in managing your pain. The website to find one in your area is www.icpa4kids.org. I am not writing this as some sort of advertisement. I am a Bradley instructor so I refer people to this website all of the time. Good luck!

I had that same pain and started wearing a pregnancy brace and it went away. You can get it at Babies R Us. It goes under your belly and has a small strap that goes across the top and the whole thing velcros. It worked great!

It's normal. (OF COURSE LET YOUR DOC KNOW!) It is very normal. The baby could be dropping...which puts more pressure on your bladder, pelvic bone area. I was even surprised to find out that the pain gets worse with each pregnancy for most women! Sorry...

Hi Sunshine!
I am a chiropractor who specializes in pregnancy care. I would recommend you go to the website that Jamie C recommended and find a doctor in your area that is certified in the Webster technique. This is a specialized certification that chiropractors receive to care for pregnant women. Good luck, and you can contact me with any further questions.

Blessings,

Tel your OB/GYN... he/she will have a more conclusive answer for you.... sometimes its the baby putting pressure on us internally as they grow... or normal body pains as the body changes to accommodate the pregnancy, or the baby could be dropping.

There is no way for us to know for sure... that's why, ask your Doctor, first & only he/she would know your pregnancy status.

Also mention to your Doctor about your milk production, as you mentioned in your other posting. Do NOT stimulate your breasts or play around with it, as this can cause contractions. You don't want that, yet.

Make sure you know what "braxton hicks" contractions are, and the contractions you get prior to delivering... also ask your Doctor WHEN you should go in to the hospital and call him/her per any contractions you feel... and HOW you should time it, per going to the hospital.

ANY questions you have, ask your Doctor... since this is your first pregnancy/birth. Ask what you should do, and when and how to prepare... and when to pack your hospital bag!

All the best,
Susan

Chiropractic has helped me tremendously with ALL of my pregnancies and I've even been adjusted in labor all 3 times. Here's some info that might help and an exercise in yellow further down the page on the link I'm attaching:

Your baby could be moving down into the birth canal. And so you may be having contractions. I'd call your doctor, and get checked. I had the same discomfort when my son was moving down. I ignored it for two days then went into labor. They might just be braxton hicks, but I'd still check with your doctor.

I have had the same problem for a little while now. Mine is nothing to worry about according to my doctor (just normal pains from the extra weight of the baby), but I would recommend checking with your doctor to be on the safe side.

I got the same thing when I was around 32 weeks. I think it is normal. Ask doc about the pressure part, but the baby may just have turned. The pain unfortunately for me continued until a couple of months after I stopped breast feeding. 12 months or so! The hips are prepping for birth, good luck mama!

Since it's your 1st pregnancy, your body hasn't stretched yet. The pain you're feeling is normal. As the baby grows is size and weight, your ligaments will stretch. Sometimes it feels like strong stitch like pains on the sides of your belly. The closer you get to your due date, your body produces relaxin in order to help your bones become more flexible so that your baby can easily move through your pelvis. Your body opens up for the baby to come out. The opening up of your body goes through many stages and doesn't happen overnight. Relaxin will make your pelvic bones flexible, your feet will widen, and your ribcage.

You might want to consider taking some childbirth preparation classes at this point. I recommend Bradley Method. They go over a whole lot info from pregancy to childbirth so that you'll become very aware of the changes that both you and baby are going through.

Talk with your health care practitioner about anything that is on your mind. That's what they are there for.

Congratulations!
