Hello! I have a newborn and am looking for a recommendation for a good pediatrician. I live in Newport News and would prefer to see someone close. If you love your doctor and know that s/he is accepting new patients I would love to know about him/her. Thank you!

We go to Dr. Obrakata and love her. If my kids are scared she always seems to calm them down. I have a 4 year old and 11 month. My 11 mounth oold is shy with people but loves dr. Deena. Her office is Liberty pediactrics behind Walgreens on Jefferson and denbigh

We go to Peninsula Pediatrics (they are now in the Port Warwick area, off Jefferson Ave. (between Oyster Point and J. Clyde (17)). Our doc is always accepting new patients because, as one nurse told me, he can't say no. BUT, that means he's pretty full. We also see Dr. Baust there a lot because my daughter always seems to hit the wall of overwhelming sickness on our doc's day off. So, I can VERY HIGHLY recommend Dr. Baust, who I'm sure is accepting new patients, has children of his own (something I've come to appreciate) and a wonderful disposition. I don't think his patient load is too big, either, since he's the newest one to the group (maybe a year, now?). Anyway, you can call them at 8773-3334 if you want to check directions or new patient acceptance (or insurance, whatever). I think it's great you're looking for someone good - just make sure you're comfortable with what they say and how they say it, and you should be fine!

Good luck on the newborn!

I use the Children's Clinic on Main Street. Dr. Blanchard and DR. Koerner are the two I prefer.

C.,
I take my daughter to Peninsula Pediatrics. They are located in the Port Warwick Section of Newport News. The are simply MARVELOUS. Always pretty quick to get in and be seen. The doctors are tentative to my daughters needs and I would noever think of taking my 4 year old anywher else. She has been there since birth. They tak all kinds of insurance including Virginia Medicaid, and it has been a Win/Win for me since day 1.

BTW--my daughter's PCP up there is Brian Butcher(I know, not a good name for a doctor) and he is GREAT.

Check out the Children's Clinic. They have several offices, one in the Denbigh area, one on Main St., and one in Gloucester. Nice thing is after hours or weekends, if you need a doctor but not necessarily the ER, they will meet you at a hospital or office and you only pay for the office visit instead of an ER visit. Dr. Blalock is ours, our kids both needed special attention at birth but have done very well since :) Good luck!

My kids are seen at Peninsula Pediatrics, right here in Newport News, . in the "Port Warwick" area off of Jefferson Ave. I love it there, they are ALWAYS so helpful and nice and wonderful!!! I love it. I am not sure if my Dr. is seeing new patients, it is Dr. Baust. But I am sure they have a great staff, and many other equally fantastic doctors!! God Bless!
PS I have 3 kids, 9, 3, and 21 months. They've been patients there over a year.

C.,
I saw several people recommend the Children's Clinic. I love them for my two Boy's. I chose them for 4 reasons:
1: They have Saturday hours
2: They can do on site Lab and I believe x ray also (Main Street office)
3: The on call Dr. Will offer to meet you at the clinic after hours within reason to avoid a costly trip to the ER.
4: They allowed me to come in and interview the Dr.'s to find if my philosophy on medicine and treatment where in sinc before I chose them as my child's PCP.

I hope this helps.

We go to the Children's Clinic on Main Street between Jefferson and Warwick near Hilton Village. I really like them. I think they also have an office in Denbigh. We go to Dr. Elizabeth Broderick, and I like her a lot. I also know Dr. John Griffiths, who is very good. The number at the Children's Clinic is ###-###-####. Good luck with your newborn!

Do NOT use Dr. Bolduc!! He refused to believe me that my son had allergies and told me that they don't happen like this. My son got so sick that he started losing weight I was then advised to stop breast feeding. He then dropped more weight and the doctor accused me of not feeding him. I finally took him to my GP and found that of the 25 things on the basic allergy test he was allergic to 15. He is now 5 and is undersized (I believe due to this poor beginning) although he eats well. When I went back to Dr. Bolduc he said well I have never heard of a child being so allergic....

I have spoken to a number of other Moms that had similar problems. He tends to disregard how a Mom feels and his OPINION is fact.
