We have a big screen tv its a rear projection model. we bought it in 2001. It sort of went blip and no sound, no picture no nothing except a little beep beep sound. guy comes out and says you need a new deflection board. they don't make them for this model anymore. i can make you one but no guarantee. It will cost about $500 for me to make and fix it. no guarantee. and by the way thats $85 payable today for the service call. I am beyond frustrated over this. its the only tv we have except the kids 13inch in the bedroom which we have brougth into the living room. do you know how hard it is to go from a 60 inch projection hd tv to a 13inch? if were going to spend $500 we would buy a new tv. but we don't have $500 so no new tv. help if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

What can I do next?

I know you said that you did not want to buy a new TV. But If you have to I just wanted to give some helpful advice. I would not get a projection screen again. My grandma just bought a new one 2 years ago and had to replace the bulb in hers twice at $400.00 a bulb. She just got tried of haveing to replace the bulb. She said that if she'd knew that this was a potental problem she wouldn't not have bought one. And the Tv's was just passed the warrenty. She said that she would never buy another one. So hopefully this is helpful to some point.

Sheri,

Did you try a store called ABT? That is where we purchased our 60" LCD projection TV in 2004. They carried the light for ours when that went out. Although I must say it was a pretty expensive light bulb $200. Good luck!

Try Craigslist or Kijiji (an eBay company that is similar to Craigslist...it has local listings). You may not find the part for your TV but you might find a comparible TV that is nice that you can afford...or at least one that you can afford that is bigger than 13 inches ; )

We got struck by lightening...several times in the past 7 years....but 2xs it affected our TV. We took our TV to APT and they were able to fix it for relatively cheap. Just an idea to check out...our TV was just a regular TV not like one you have...not sure you could transport yours?!?!?

Hi Sheri! An idea is to try ebay. Lots of things on there that they dont sell or make anymore. you can check with repair shops. see how much it would be to find one on your own(relatively cheap on ebay usually) and then seee how much they would charge only to fix it. call around tho, don't just stop when you get one quote. sometimes if you get a better quote then take that quote someplace else they will match it. Best of luck!!
