Made these as gifts and people thought I spent oodles of $$$'s on them ; )
I found some old record albums at a flea market. I got them so I can turn the actual album into a scrapbook album. Now, I have several records I don't know what to do with. I hate to just throw them away. I don't really want to use them to decorate with (at least in my home). I could possibly take them to the Boys/Girls Club I work at and use them to decorate a room, but would like some ideas.
I have two daughters (2 & 4). Any ideas to do something with them???
They are the large records. Very heavy duty.
I think I have both sizes. Not sure how to tell. I really don't think they are worth anything. Classic music mostly.

I saw on the racheal ray show how to turn them into bowls, it was a unique idea. Google it.
Hi! Find a can or jar or bowls big as the circle that is the label. Rest the record centered on the can in the oven at 200 or so and let it melt into a bowl or vase. If you have good gloves you can manipulate their shape too. Just make sure you take it out before it gets too soft. Let the kids paint them or decoupage on them, or glitter and feather them and you've got Christmas under control. There must be directions and pictures somewhere online. Have fun!
family members have hung them as decor on the wall & ceiling. My niece covered her entire ceiling with them. Her room was themed "Hollywood" & was all lavendar/yellow/black. It was an awesome design!
I've seen them melted into bowls.
& I've checked the value of mine on ebay.....not many bids, & the $ is not there. I have my 33 1/3LPs & my DH collects 78s.
I sold a box of rejects at the local H.S.'s fundraiser yard sale. The old men loved them!
definitely make sure you don't have a valuable record in there first.
Then you can take screws with flat heads and washers and screw them into a wall as a wall covering (saw this on trading spaces once ... was really cool).
You can make clocks out of the actual vinyl record also.
Just saw on Pinterest - someone made a couple into a cake stand, Large on bottom, a metal rod, small on top -very cute!
Are they 78's or 33 1/3 --- Before you destroy the covers check ebay and such they may be valuable.
Donate to the high schools if they are not valuable.
I had to locate some this past semester for my daughters physics project for making a mousetrap car. I found them at 1/2 priced books for about $4 each.
