Need Costume Ideas for 10 Yr Old Girl

Usually coming up with costume ideas is really easy for my daughter but this year it's been really hard. We are down to less than a week to go and we still don't have a costume for her. I have suggested being a groovy girl, an M&M, twister board game, a ghost, and many others but she has said no to everything.

Does anyone know of good ideas that don't cost too much and can be homemade?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for the great ideas. My daughter finally made up her mind. Since she is an animal lover, she is going as a black cat. Thank goodness she decided on something.

My 10 y/o is going as an 80's rocker chic. My friend made her a tutu with black, hot pink and white and she'll have a black tank top that she's going to paint on with puff paint, then black tights and hot pink streaks in her hair. :)
Last year she went as the grim reaper, so I'm stoked that she's going girlie this year!

Honey... if you don't decide very, very soon... you're going to be going as a sociopath. Because they look just like everyone else!

- Cereal killer/Serial Killer (black clothes w/ empty cereal boxes taped on and a rubber knife to stab the boxes with)

- Bottle of spray glitter = she's the sparkle in her daddy's eye (or nix the dad part and she's just glitter)

- vampire, just needs fangs... or fangs and glitter

- flip notebook, detective

- one of your negliges over her clothes and a sign around her neck that says 'freudian' (freudian slip)

- Real3D glasses with lenses removed, 60's hair, etc and she works for NASA

I am going as an ocean. I am going to wear blue pants and top with fish all over me. I also have a boat and boot attached to my shirt.

Super easy.

Man thats tough, my daighter loves the red riding hood cape thing and a basket that she can put glow sticks and stuff in. But like another mom said, have her pick a character she likes. Also, make it clear to your daughter that time it ticking, and its on her to make the decision or she is going as herself!

Sew a few rolls of Smarties candy to her jeans and she can be "Smarty Pants".

Sew stuffed cats and dogs to an umbrella or hang cat/dog stickers or pictures to the umbrella and she can go as "Its raining cats and dogs".

Tape purple balloons on her and she can go as "A bunch of grapes".

My daughter, now 15, has often picked a favorite movie or book character. The last few years, anything where we can spray her hair another color is a favorite of hers. Last year she was the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) version and it was awesome. The only thing we didn't make was the hat. Recently she was also Tonks from the Harry Potter movies/books (purple hair).

Have fun!!

What about a mermaid? Bandeau bikini top and teal green or blue shiny fabric sewn or secured around a "tail-shaped" piece of foam. Make it long enough to cover her feet and sew or staple an elastic band around the top so it will go around her waist. Buy a long, pretty wig and use some glittery eye shadow and body glitter.

has she seen grease? if so have her dress up like rizzo of the pink ladies its just jeans rolled up to the knee's bobby socks and slip on shoes, a white turtle neck or scoop necked shirt and pink jacket (you can always find those silk jackets at the second hand store for like $2 some bright red lipstick and blush and she is good to go

dress up as a baby & carry a big pacifier?

okay, I give up......let her look thru the websites for Family Fun, Better Homes/Gardens, etc. Until we know more about her personal interests... we're all kinda sinking here!

Some scrubs (or lab coat), a stethoscope and a surgeons mask makes her a doctor.
Add fake blood and hair gelled to stand on end makes her a mad scientist.
