Your sister can always go to her regular doctor and he can refer her elsewhere. My cousin had similiar saymptoms growing up, and we later found out she was having seizures.
It sounds like epilepsy. Usually we think of epilepsy involving seizures, but I don't think that is the only kind.
For any kind of illness, all you do is go to a basic ("primary care") doctor, and that doctor is the one who decides which kind of specialist doctor should be seen.
If it is epilepsy, neurofeedback might help stop the incidents completely, or make them less frequent, or might make them last for shorter amounts of time. Have your sister talk to her doctor about neurofeedback. Many doctors don't even know about it, so you might have to find a clinic in your area. Just go to Google.com and type "neurofeedback" and the area where you live in the search line. Some information, including clinic names and phone numbers, should come up.
Good luck!

I would go to her primary doctor with her and talk to the dr. They can point you to the right doctor and help you research whats going on.

it sounds like your sister may be having a type of seizure and probably needs to see a neurologist.
i agree that this sounds like a seizure. i had a friend who had this type of seizure. she should see a neurologist.
Hi G.,
I would definitely have her go see her primary doctor first, if they don't seem to help at all then definitely get an appt with a neurologist. The neurologist will definitely help with whatever problem is going on.
I used to have seizures, mine however were happening for an unknown reason and we never found out why either. I had them for about 1.5 years, I was put on anti-seizure medicine. Also my grandmother has epilipsy and has had it for several years she is on medicine for it, it helps her a lot!
Please have your friend go to the doctor immediately, whatever the problem is, whether it be seizures or strokes like someone else said, they can be and are life threatening, but they can be treated and help prevented. I hope your friend gets some relief soon. Good Luck!

a neurologist, or her family doctor who can evaluate her and tell her where she needs to go from there.
A Neurologist may be helpful.
Wish you the best.

Liev is right - it sounds like petit mal epileptic seizures. She needs to see a neurologist.
G.,
Your sister may be having seizures. It's important that she talk to her family doctor, and he can refer her to a neurologist. His referral will get her an appointment sooner, and it may be necessary for her insurance. May God bless you and her. He will get you through this.
She maybe having a small seizure so I would go to a dr who can treat them. A good place to stated is to ask your general Dr for a referral to one.
My suggestion would be to see a neurologist. It could be mini-seisures, or not, but a neurologist would be the direction I would go. Best of luck, my brother-in-law was doing something similar and now takes meds to prevent this from happening.
I would make an appt. with a neurologist or just see your primary physician and he can refer you to someone else if he thinks its necessary. Good luck
It sounds like she could have epilepsy. She needs to go to the doctor asap to find out. You can always take her to a general practitioner and he/she will decide if she needs further treatment. This sounds like a very dangerous situation. What if she is driving when she blacks out? She needs to be checked out NOW!
