Ok, It is time to clean my basement and get rid of all the kids clothes and toys that is down there. I am thinking about doing a mom 2 mom sale by my house and need some help. First how do I price things? I am thinking just saleing all the single piece items at $1.00 and the sets and brand name nicer stuff for a little more. What would you do? I also have a lot of toys the kids don't play with anymore, and a bouncer, infant carseat, and exersaucer that I don't know what to price them as. If anyone has any suggestion I would love them. Thank you so much.

I sold a LOT of my baby stuff using Craigslist...it's free online advertising by area. You can post items with or without pictures, provide detailed descriptions, set asking price and any set any terms such as cash only or must be able to pick up. The reason I like this so much is, I don't have to drag everything out and HOPE someone takes it. I take a photo, post my ad and wait for someone to e-mail or call for pick-up arrangements. VERY simple. For larger items (bouncer & Exersauser) that were gently used, I would look up the retail price and list the product for 1/2 the retail price or maybe slightly under.

Good luck!

Hi N. -
My cousin does a garage or M2M sale every year with great success. She told me a good rule to follow with equipment items (I.e. bouncers, cribs, high chairs) that are in good to near new condition is 25% of the original price. Clothing usually runs 50 cents - $2 on shirts and $1-5 on pants or outfits. Special dresses/outfits such as Christmas Dresses usually go for 10-20% original price.
Anything that doesn't sell consider donating-if you can get a receipt you'll have a tax deduction. Whomever you donate to gets some great things and you benefit as well. Good luck!

My son had a community service project at school and we decided to donate all of our baby stuff to a shelter for battered women. They need baby clothes and toys badly and honestly, all the trouble to have a garage sale or sell things on e-bay just does not seem worth it. They can be very secretive (understandably) about the drop off site, so don't let that put you off.

I just went to my first Mom 2 Mom sale. We bought a jumperoo for $12. Books were priced .25 for soft cover and .50 for hard cover. Most of the bigger items were $10-20 each. Clothes seemed to be priced low (some things were 5/$1.00) Coats were $3-5 each, shoes $2-3 a pair. Those are just some things I noticed.

The $1 pricing sounds good and you can price outfits and name brands anywhere from $3 to $5. As far as exersaucers, etc., I priced mine at roughly $20 because they were in good shape. Good luck!!
