Ever since I can remember I have had aching legs, usually just the right leg. In the past recent years it has progressed. It seems to be affecting both my legs, now my back seems to go spastic, and my arms also. Ithe day after I graduated from college, my legs felt really weak that morning, and I was feeling light-headed. When I got home after breakfast, the spasms/tics became really bad, and at 5 pm I went to the ER. They did not give me anything there, but gave me a RX for Valium to relax the muscles. By 8 pm, the spasms let up, and I think I slept for 18 hours. When I have the spasms, they attack me about every minute, making it impossible to relax, and thus that makes the pain worse. I take Mirapex which only helps if you take it before the spasms start, Vicodin for the pain in my back, now one-half to one whole Valium to try and calm down the muscles so I can relax, hot pulsing showers, warm milk, putting my legs up on pillows, rubbing ICY-Hot on my legs and arms once or twice, Buspirone for anxiety, and after hours later, I finally fall asleep. Then I am so exhausted after this, I will sleep for hours.
I also have Epstein Barrs Syndrom whic there is o cure for, and with this is chronic fatique syndrom where I will feel like I am drunk, have difficulty with my walking, and this will last 24 to 36 hours before I feel normal again. Any clues as to what I should do or try? My daughter in MPLS said I should go to a neurologist...

What can I do next?

Hi C.
I am amazed that you have not seen a neurologist yet, but you have asked non medical people what you should do with your health..... just like me asking a 5 year old about my investment decisions when there is a melt down in the market... anyhow, please go see your neurologist and get this condition evaluated properly and I also recommend seeing a second neurologist at the same time to have a second opinion without telling him/her about the first one's decisions, so you could get a clear answer from two different doctors...

Meanwhile, I highly recommend getting evaluated by a chiropractic physician who is really good. if you are interested, let me know, I will look at my schedule to see if I can arrange a time to evaluate you to see how much I can help you... I have had many patients over the last 14 years. with similar conditions and I have been able to give them great relief... I can't guarantee anything, but it is worth finding out ( the medications don't guarantee anything at all, cause once you stop them, the problem is right there....)

I look forward to hearing from you...

Hi C., Have you tried going to a chiropractor? Muscle spasms are often linked to the spinal cord and misfiring nerves. There's many things a chiro can do for you and most importantly, you most likely won't have to take all those drugs! Good luck.

Hi C.
When I was reading what you wrote I felt like you were talking about me. I have had RLS since I was 17 years old and I finally gave in to all the Dr's saying I need RLS meds. I'm 41 years old. I have been on requip for the past 2 month and sleep like a baby. I don't remember the last time I felt so good. I've got my life back. I'm not always tired anymore. I'm not so easily bothered by every little thing my husband and kids do. I'm not sleeping during the day anymore. Try the meds and see if they work for you. I hope this helps.
