Hi,

My friend and I were trying to plan a vacation to Puerto Rico. We are looking for a resort with a lot of kid friendly activities. We will be traveling with a 5 year old, 3 year old and 18 month old. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
M.

Hi! Just got back from PR on Saturday...stayed at the Conquistidor. This is a beautiful resort with a private beach. Depending on when you go (from what I understand) they do have activities for children, but you will need to check with the hotel. Drawbacks: food is expensive, activities associated with the hotel are expensive, 1 hr commute from the airport (thus, removed from other site-seeing activities). Benefits: beautiful resort, private beach/island with oodles of amenities (no one hassling you on the beach to buy things), water park, shopping, harbour, etc. If you truly want to get away and stay ay one location, this is the place to be.

Hope you have a terrific vacation!

We have been to Puerto Rico twice and it is a wonderful place to go. The first time we only stayed one night before a cruise and we stayed at the Sheraton in Old San Juan. It is in a historical part of town and a great place to stay if you are interested in exploring museums and architecture. The second time we went we stayed for a week as an incentive trip for my husband's work at the Intercontinental. We took our daughter only 6 months at the time and we really enjoyed it. A very nice hotel right on the beach and in walking distance to lots of restaurants. When we went to Florida my kids were 7 and 2 and even considereing we went to Disneyworld they will tell you their favorite part of the trip was the beach. San Juan has one of the nicest beaches I have ever been to and you won't spend tons of money. Have fun!

Hi M., I met someone yesterday who is from Puerto Rico. She mentioned that it's a good idea to have a passport with you in case you'd like to take advantage of any day cruises to places like Dominican Republic or other beautiful islands in the area. Have a great trip! It sounds like a beautiful place.

We use Apple Vacation and Fun Jet all the time. www.TripAdvisor.com is a great way to get true reviews. We find resorts in our price range that look good, then check them out via trip advisor. Have fun!

Hi M.,

I have been to PR 4 times, twice with my daughter. I would suggest checking out the Hilton Caribe. It has a shallow, protected private beach, shallow pools designed for children, is close to Old San Juan, not far from the airport, and ALL rooms have balconies - something we discovered was a MUST when traveling with small children who nap (and not easy to find in PR, believe it or not). You can put the kids down, then sit on the balcony instead of in the room in the dark. My husband and I would enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony while our daughter napped, or when she was very small and going to bed early, we would have room service dinner on the balcony and still felt like we were on vacation.

Check them out on-line and see what you think. Most of the restaurants are also kid-friendly, and we even saw Elmo walking around the grounds while we were there! It is a fun time for all : )

I've stayed at Rio Mar...it's the Westins resort. It's about 15 minutes away from El Junque which is a rainforest you can hike through. It's beautiful. I went with my niece, who was about 5 at the time and she did great walking around. There are beautiful waterfalls that you can swim in.
The resort itself has several pools, one with a big slide and its right on the beach.

My sister-in-law is from PR and her family has a place at this resort so we didn't do a lot of "resort" things but there were always lots of families there whenever I went.

It's one of my favorite places...the hotel is beautiful.
