Ok this is not a dilemma, more of a first world problem but I have finally saved money to buy a new set of pot pans and silverware! the ones I have now are more than 10 years old and in some the handle has broken, yikes!

anyways , can you recommend a good brand for pots and pans that lasts and doesn't burn easily. I cook a lot. I've read some pans that have ceramic bottoms now so you don't have to use tefflon but I don't know how good they are.

thank you ladies!!!

What can I do next?

I love Calphalon - stick resistant. I've had some of them for nearly 20 years and still work great.

All Clad are lifetime. I got a great deal on a set just after black friday at Macy's. I had saved for a couple years to get these. When I went to purchase the set, the salesman said they were having a huge sale on them after Black Friday. I have watched the prices for years and never saw as big of a sale on the set. I really wanted them for Thanksgiving but the sale was so huge I ended up waiting and thank God I did, I got way more extra pieces than I expected.

Sign up for Oneidas emails, they have some great sales on flatware. Get good quality so it will last forever.

I LOVE my All-Clad. I use the highest end they make. Yes it's pricey but it is fantastic! I paid about $120 for a small saucepan then bought a set for around $800.

It is 7 yrs old and still looks new and I USE it daily!!!

I also use my cast iron a lot as well.

My mom has a set of Saladmaster she got when I was a toddler and omg it still looks new plus they replaced a couple of lids for her after 20+ years of use!!

You get what you pay for!

Costco's Kirkland Signature set is extremely nice-heavy! but really nice and under $200. My mother in law bought her set 6+ months ago and loves them. Just looked it up and it is an 18/10 stainless steel 13 piece set for $189. They also have a hard anodized aluminum set for $169. I really trust the Kirkland Signature brand. Good luck in your decision and enjoy!

I like Cuisinart, KitchenAid and T-Fel.

They are teflon coated and I like/need the non-stick bottoms.

You can buy them at outlets & discount stores much cheaper.

I have one of the "green" ceramic pans. It did great for the first 6 months. You have to reseason it every 6 months and I did. It really never did as well as it did the first 6 mths. It's been a year and a half and I would not buy another. I did inherit a set of Circulon pans and they are great. I probably never could have spent that much money on pans but I got to tell you, they will last a lifetime. No warping, no burning your food because they are too thin and they don't chip or scratch.
For silverware, Penny's puts it on sale at least once a year for 75 percent off!

For a pots and pans set, cuisinart.. Hands down the best. Ours are like All-clad but cost 1/3. They literally are just as good ---I cook on all-clad at my brothers house.

For a few non-stick pans for omlets, go cheap and just replace often.

I guess teflon pans aren't as good (or as healthful) as they were first cracked up to be. About three years ago I invested in a set of Cuisinart pans that I found on Amazon, and I really like them. I like pans with some weight to them - I used Pyrex before - and these have the heft that I like. They cook beautifully! They also clean well; I could polish them up with Barkeeper's Friend and have them look magazine-cover pretty, but they aren't out for display, so I don't worry about it. (I also have a couple of good old iron skillets that I couldn't live without.)

I don't know how much money you have saved...

The Pampered Chef set is great. You CANNOT put it in the dishwasher. I think it's $700 and if you have a show and save money....

I have the Royal Prestige (used to be called Miracle Maid) set. I've not had a problem with it - I know there have been some complaints - but I've not had any problems. My MIL ruined two of my pans - I sent them in and within one week - they replaced them. No questions asked.

The silverware??? Oneida has some really good sets...TAKE THEM OUT OF THE BOX AND TRY THEM!!!! or at least PRETEND that you are using them at a table BEFORE you buy them. That's what my girlfriend and I did last Sunday at Macy's broke it down to 3 sets we liked, took the knife, fork and spoon out of the box and pretended like we were going to use it...helped us make the decision.
