Need Advice from Pregnancy Experts!!?!?

I'm 6 weeks and 1 day along in my pregnancy and this morning I had a gush of bright red blood :'( After that, there was mild spotting of brown, then nothing since. I went to the hospital and they said my BETA levels are 1750.5 which is awesome, (means at least for now I'm still pregnant!), plus the ultrasound tech (not the doctor) did an ultrasound saying the yolk sac is measuring exactly 6 wks 1 day, but that there's no fetal pole visible. Does that mean there's no baby in there?!?!? :( Or just not showing up YET? Please, any experience with this or information?!? I'm so worried :( [[I have a follow-up appt with an OB/GYN in 2 days]] I had yesterday and today off of work- I have been & will be laying in bed, thinking positive thoughts, drinking tons of water. I spotted again this morning, just more brown. Of course it upsets me but after Googling it and reading the responses here, I'm trying not to let it freak me out too much. (P.S. No, I don't have a tilted uterus)

What can I do next?

It's still really early and the fetal pole may take longer to show up. It's not comforting to hear, but you'll just have to wait it out. Bleeding in pregnancy always scares me because in my own experience it has always preceded a miscarriage, but I have a good friend who literally gushed blood for the first three months of both her pregnancies, and has two healthy teenage daughters. It's not necessarily normal, but it isn't necessarily a worst case scenario for you to be bleeding. While you are waiting, and yes, I know this is not what one wants to hear at this point, you have to keep a positive outlook or you'll just be miserable. I really hope you get good news and that all goes well.

Since you are only 6 weeks, that's very early in the pregnancy and it's normal to not see anything. Most doctor's offices wait until you're 8-10 weeks pregnant before doing an internal ultrasound. My doctor's office won't do an ultrasound until you hit 12 weeks. I don't know much about BETA levels. I assume it's the amount of HCG in your system?? I honestly wouldn't worry about it because if the BETA levels are what I think they are, they are measured by blood which is far more accurate than urine.

I honestly wouldn't worry about it. Keep your feet up and stay relaxed. If you can take off work the next few days, I would just so you can stay calm. Good luck and let us know what happens.

When a vaginal ultrasound is done, you can expect to see a fetal pole after beta HCG levels have reached 2000. If an abdominal ultrasound is done, you won't see fetal pole or any real development until after beta levels have reached 3500. It's very possible you will have good news in a couple days when you have your next ultrasound since beta hcg should double every 2-3 days. Your numbers look good and having a yolk sac measure right on target is terrific. Best wishes! Nurse Midwife Mom

Super common not to see fetal poll until week 7 or 8 so don't worry about that. Also super common to bleed and not mean eminent miscarriage. That said, I have carried only 2 of 5 pregnancies to live birth. So I've played this waiting game, some with good results and others not so much. Do you have a tilted uterus by chance? And who did the ultra sound, the dr. or the ultrasound technician? I have found that several times when the dr. could find nothing the ultra sound tech could. Also tilted uterus can make it much harder to find fetal poll. You really have no reason to think that theres no baby in there because they didn't see it at 6 weeks. The bleeding is cause for concern, but even that is common. But when its all said and done, 15% of confirmed pregnancies end in miscarriage. And since some of us have had more than our fair share, you have plenty to be hopeful for. Chin up.

I've had 8 births and never heard of the beta levels and fetal pole, etc. Must be very uninformed but I think it is good that in my day we just got pregnant and had the baby or didn't. I'm glad I didn't have to worry all those times. I hope you have no problem and everything is fine. One of our daughters had bleeding early on and went to the hospital and they said it's very common but she also found out that night that she had twins. I think the bleeding is not that uncommon for some people if it slows down.

It sounds like you may have had a cyst on your uterus or ovary that burst. I had this with all 3 of my pregnancies and I have 3 healthy children. Did you have pain with the burst of blood? If so, this is probably what happened. And, if you are only 6 weeks along, you will not be able to see anything but a sack at this point. It will be a few more weeks before you will be able to see a baby.
